Hello to everyone,
I decided to start a thread:idea: to find out if there's anyone who's applied or plans to apply to Georgia Stat University's Spring 2011 program. I have already sent out my application package in the middle of August. I know that we won't start hearing anything until October, but I figured it would help reduce the pressure of the wait for us to have discussions about it here.
Hope to hear from GSU applicants soon; and if there are former/current BLSON students on here that can give us some advice and helpful words
it would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks!!
Well guys.... I won't be joining you in january. Was a bit disheartened because I specifically wanted to go to gsu because it is my alma mater, but I have other options and am waiting on those. Thanks for the support guys! Good luck in the program because Lord knows we need dedicated nurses :-)
SweetPEI, dont be saddened. I think you should definately apply for the fall and just take over anything that they suggested. At least you'll have an almost garunteed spot. But then maybe your other options are the ones that are meant for you. Dont question it, EVERYTHING happens for a reason and you dont know the reason behind this one. Im sure you will get in! And thank you, I will definately keep you in my prayers. Good luck with your future goals and stay positive! Love always.
hey i’m also still in hs like you. however i am a junior and am taking “dual enrollment” courses at gpc this year engl 1101 & 1102, hist 2111, pols 1101, math 1113, and psyc 1101. next year i plan on taking chem 1151 & 1152, biol 1611 & 1612 a&p, math 1431, engl 2111 & 2131, and econ 2105 & 2106. with this i will have many of the nursing prerequisites completed. why did you decide to retake many of your prerequisites? also what type of hc volunteer work have your preformed?can anyone else here comment on starting gsu in pre-nursing with this many of the prerequisites completed?
thanks and good luck to those still waiting and congratulations to those already accepted!
sorry i just read this today. a while ago i contacted one of the nursing advisors and she told me that they will accept my ap credits but they wont give me any points for them since they dont know what grade i got in the class. they use a point system when admitting the students into the nursing program (look at bdanders post in one of the previous gsu nursing threads and she explains how they calculate whether you are accepted or not). i would have had 6 out of the 8 pre-reqs done with my ap credits and i would only have 2 left to take which would not be enough for me to get into the program sooo i decided just to take them all over again. which i dont really mind anyway.
your case is different though because you are actually going to college and its not just ap credit. basically by the time you finish highschool you will be done with all your pre-reqs and would be able to apply for the gsu nursing program. you are so lucky!
Thanks for the kind words everyone.
Icamp99 there's nothing I know that you don't. Have you heard from them? hopefully you are accepted.
Svictor I hear you. A part ofme did want to question God, but I know that things happen for a reason. .
Be the best nurses that y'all can be!
Thanks for the love Svictor

SweetPEI....I haven't heard anything. Tomorrow I have class and might stop by the nursing dept and see if they can give me a hint or not. I am trying to pull together a plan B. Good luck to you and thank you for starting this thread!! If it hadn't been for you we would have not had this opportunity of getting to know one another. I am thinking about applying to other schools and maybe getting an LPN and bridging into RN if I can't get in to a BSN program. Hugs to you!

i understand about the ap credits. one of my older sister's friends had several ap classes that her school would not accept and she scored 4s on the ap test. this is a major reason that i am only taking 2 ap courses. so far this year engl hist and math have been easy. although from all i hear i am worried about chem and a&p next year. i will have at least one semester prior to nursing school, micro biology, hhs 3000, and nurs 2010 along with one core area b and core area c courses.
did you set up an appointment with a nursing advisor or did you email them your situation?
have you preformed any healthcare volunteer work?
good luck to all!

SweetPEI, thank you for starting this thread you have been so nice and I'm sorry you did not get in. I know you will be a great nurse. NEVER GIVE UP! :)

i'm kind of confused why are you taking nurs 2010 and hhs 3000 arent those pre-requisites for the absn? i figured you were doing traditional. i emailed one of the nursing advisors but she's gone until january so idk who to talk to anymore.
& yeah i volunteer at st joseph's and im part of north side's healthcare program for teens.

Thanks I guess I read it wrong, you are correct I don't need NURS 2010 and HHS 3000 as prerequisites. Yea!
I wish I could get out of three others that aren't required for nursing. Too bad they're required for HS graduation.

fall 2012 was my plan. after hearing everyone talk about how hard a&p is i may change the plan slightly. i was going to taking chem 1152 and biol 1110 together. now i'm not so sure that's a good idea. with the entrance requirements so high i want to be sure to have "a"s in all of my science courses. taking chem 1152 and biol 1110 separately would mean that micro biology would be in the fall not summer and i still will have those area b and c courses remaining.
that would push me back to spring 2013
decisions decisions
Hi everyone.. i applied to the next spring ace program..and im still waiting for the final decision. Does anybody have an idea about that how many people on the waiting list can get accepted?.. because i heard that i was on the waiting list..this waiting time is killing me......:crying2:
