GSU Spring 2011 Applicants (BSN)

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hello to everyone,

I decided to start a thread:idea: to find out if there's anyone who's applied or plans to apply to Georgia Stat University's Spring 2011 program. I have already sent out my application package in the middle of August. I know that we won't start hearing anything until October, but I figured it would help reduce the pressure of the wait for us to have discussions about it here.

Hope to hear from GSU applicants soon; and if there are former/current BLSON students :nurse: on here that can give us some advice and helpful words :twocents: it would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks!!

@SweetPEI I almost had tears come to my eyes :crying2:. It's a shame how they treat some patients, its quite rediculous actually. I'm sorry for your loss but it's great that you're going to use that to make other peoples' lives easier. :yeah:

1. As for me, when i first started at GSU I was a Biology/Pre-med major. My dream was to be a neurosurgeon. I did tons of volunteering at the hospital, and shadowed my own physician. When i paid attention to the relationship most doctors had with their patients, it turned me off. Doctors barely communicate and have personal relationships with their patients. They come in the room, sign off on a prescription & leave. And I as well saw how some nurses treated their patients and it disgusted me. This is a person's life we're dealing with; and I vow to be part of the new generation of nurses that changes things. I love people & I have a rediculous passion for wanting to help heal people so nursing seemed to give me the more personal side of medicine. I want my patients to be able to contact me whenever they need me. I'm also EXTREMELY energetic & hyper so I need a career that's demanding and keeps me on my toes. I lOVE staying busy. lol. Also, EVERY woman in my family is either a nurse or a doctor so I seemed to follow the family tradition. :nurse:

2. After my bachelor's, I plan on applying to nurse anesthesia school and getting my Master's/pHd in anesthesia. Or perhaps a DNP degree (Doctor of Nursing Practice), which is a pHd degree as well. Just like you SweetPEI, I'd like to work in ER or trauma. I like action. lol

And the ironic thing is, my parents both already have Masters degrees in something else but they're at Clayton State University working on their BSN. They just got accepted to the nursing program there (yesterday), so i'm the only one left waiting for a decision . As soon as I get a decision, hopefully it's good so our family can have a celebration dinner. lol.

I know this forum is old, but @svictor1, do you know what your parents GPA and TEAS scores were...I'm applying to Clayton for Fall 20111, and I'm a nervous wreck.

hey Mrs. Lewis! My mom had a 3.9 and a 74 on her teas and my step-dad also had a 3.9. and an 83

on his teas. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have anymore questions. :)

svictor! how do you like the program so far?

Hey! I love it! The work is not hard at all, it's jst that there's SO MUCH to keep up with. Lots of paperwork. I have 6 classes plus lab and clinicals. I have 5 exams this week. So its definately time-consuming but do-able. I know you'll make it!

Hi'

Has anyone who applied for Spring 2012 at GSU/BLN nursing heard news yet?

Thanks for sharing,
