GSU Spring 2011 Applicants (BSN)

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hello to everyone,

I decided to start a thread:idea: to find out if there's anyone who's applied or plans to apply to Georgia Stat University's Spring 2011 program. I have already sent out my application package in the middle of August. I know that we won't start hearing anything until October, but I figured it would help reduce the pressure of the wait for us to have discussions about it here.

Hope to hear from GSU applicants soon; and if there are former/current BLSON students :nurse: on here that can give us some advice and helpful words :twocents: it would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks!!

I went by the nursing office today and was told there is another meeting this week and possibly next week too. I was told that it looked like I would probably be on a waiting list. When I asked about when the last date of notification of acceptance into the program, she said it could be up until the first day of class. I was also told that once I received notification if I was on the waiting list, I could make an appointment and get more information. This helped me to relax a bit and take a deep breath. I am trying to get a better grasp on what my options are and get grounded in how this decision is out of my control. (Then again, I already knew that but have moments of amnesia.) I'm going to try and calm down and stop beating the down down to get to the mailbox every day. Good luck to those still waiting to hear something.

Did the office say that all acceptance letters were sent out? Are the next couple of weeks just for rejection letters or wait list letters?

@mkim58: The waiting list is to replace accepted applicants who decide not to do the program. That is what the number would be based on.

I am assuming the decisions are still being made about who is accepted into the program. I think each week decisions are made based upon the previous letters sent out. This is based only on my interpretation.

I think waiting list letter will go out after the next 2 weeks. Probably first week of December. Again, this is my idea not from anything specific I was told from Nursing Dept.

fall 2012 was my plan. after hearing everyone talk about how hard a&p is i may change the plan slightly. i was going to taking chem 1152 and biol 1110 together. now i'm not so sure that's a good idea. with the entrance requirements so high i want to be sure to have "a"s in all of my science courses. taking chem 1152 and biol 1110 separately would mean that micro biology would be in the fall not summer and i still will have those area b and c courses remaining.

that would push me back to spring 2013 :(

decisions decisions

i'm talking a&p 1 and chem 1 together with english 1 and college algebra. i'm taking ap chem and honors anatomy this year so that will make it a little easier for me. i don't have a job either so i've heard its doable. i'm kind of confused about the area b and c electives do you have to take those in order to enter the program?

the area b and c electives i believe are gsu graduation requirements not nursing pre-requisites. i would just like to get them completed.

did i see earlier you were talking about gpc for your pre-requisites? we may be in some courses there.

yeahh i was thinking about it but now im just going straight to gsu instead. it's 45minutes away but i'll be on the marta for 30minutes so i can get some extra study time.

got my letter stating i am on the wait list. it stated that i need to take a class which i have taken and made an a. i will notify the dept. of the info and hope it will help my standing. i will also make an appt. to get additional info. regarding my status on the list. a warm-hearted thank you for each prayer and i am sending you a "cyber" hug. the correspondence has been supportive and a picture of the heart and attitude of what nursing is all about. for those of you beginning the journey in january....go, go, go and make us all proud for we will be following in your footsteps! who knows....someday we may work the clinical halls together. happy thanksgiving for which we have much to be thankful!! (except for maybe the turkeys :-) gobble, gobble! if things don't pan out for me to get in this semester, i'm not giving up.......just wanted to restate.....god didn't give up on me and i'm not giving up on the seed he planted in me. do i hear an amen????:redbeathe (i may have forgotten to state one minor little detail, i'm 56 years old and a retired first grade teacher as well as administrator. i am truly having the time of my life, following a dream since i was 20 years old. never say never and it's never too late!) yep......i thought i heard an amen from out there!)

Amen lcamp!!!! Happy Holidays too. I am still praying for you! And definately remember that everything happens for a reason, so never be upset with His decisions. :heartbeat

Svictor1: :up:Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

I was wondering if anyone can help me with the history requirement exams (US history/Constitution, GA history/Constitution)? What study materials did you use? I saw that the online links seemed to just be towards the constitution exams. Did you use additional materials from the bookstore or were the online prep materials adequate?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks mushka. I have everything except the US history text "The American Past; A Survey of American History." I've been-slowly- getting through the test bank by researching online. Let me know if you have this text and how much you are interested in selling it for.
