try this if you already havent General Schedule - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia i think this is state wide
If you're relocating, I don't think it's wrong to ask what the salary is. I accepted an Army job overseas told that all the RN's were GS10 positions even though the listing said 35K-80K. With 20+ years of experience, I ended up making less than when I was a new graduate (just over $19/hr). The scales have a wide variation that really don't let you know where you fall on the scale.
I still don't regret it because I truly do love my job here and the satisfaction of being part of the mission has no monetary value. But not all of the nurses that have come here feel the same way. If you are picking up and moving across country, I think you're entitled to know what your salary is going to be. Good luck.
I am currently in a temp GS 9 Clinical Nurse RN position and have 30 years experience. In my RN position the pay scale range started @ $47,4000- $80,000(something) I am being paid $53,500- I can't even make my monthly necessary bills(mtg, electric, property taxes, let alone a leaking roof and non working oil furnace) for that I am very devastated. But like you- I love the job, love my coworkers, my superiors and being honored to be a part of the mission- to keep the military personel and their families as healthy as I can by giving them the best possible care I can. My dad was retired military and I think he would be proud. But this pay is really bad- If they extend me, I have to get a second job. If you don't have big housing expenses and a family, then this is the best job there is in healthcare.

Does anyone know how to read GS pay scales for nurses. I know that we are a Title 5 or 38 job so we don't go off of general gs pay scales.
I am interviewing for a GS 10 job at a military fort. I cannot find the right pay scale to see what I would be looking at for pay.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. thank you
