  1. I am a med/surg float at a 500+ bed hospital. Those are the drugs are also see everything. not much variance from them. Maybe some of the cardiac drugs like coreg, betapace, amio (PO or IV). Don't know but maybe you could ask someone there to see what to expect.
  2. if you are planning on getting your MSN you should get your BSN. I graduated from an accelerated program (BSN). Nursing school is just a bunch of hoops to jump through. Kind of like all those prereq's you really don't need. Nursing school could be 6 months for the "nursing" part of your degree. Half of it is useless. It is taught mostly by nurses that were trained years ago. I had a teacher that graduated in 1950s. Nursing is a people business. You have to be able to see change in your patients and use some common sense. Nursing schools make it seem like much more. I paid $25K for 16 month program and was being taught in a hundred year old building and using equipment that the hospital didn't need anymore. I would calculate the time and money it would cost to go ASN--->MSN bridge and BSN--->MSN and go from there. Hope this helps. I love my job and wouldn't do anything else now
  3. Thank you for the info. This is a relocation but not far. This position is a supervisory type RN job at a clinic. Nurse Lacey's pay was about what they told me. I only make around $45K right now so 60K would be a pretty good salary. Not to mention the benefits.
  4. Doesn't sound like a unit for a new grad. You should find somewhere with 12 hour shifts then you only have to work 3 days. 8 hour shifts do strain your personal life. If I had to guess you are younger nurse. This is a career so it takes a lot of time and energy. Maybe you could drop to part time.
  5. I was told this was a $70000 salary position. I will have to relocate and I don't want to be the person that asks " is that pay correct" before I interview. I just cannot find anything to back that salary up.
  6. Karma thank you for the response. This is my problem. It is very easy to get pay scales for general jobs, as you found, but as nurses we are under a special pay scale.
  7. Does anyone know how to read GS pay scales for nurses. I know that we are a Title 5 or 38 job so we don't go off of general gs pay scales. I am interviewing for a GS 10 job at a military fort. I cannot find the right pay scale to see what I would be looking at for pay. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. thank you
