GRU / Augusta University MSN CNL Fall 2017

Published

Hey guys, anyone else applying to the CNL program at Augusta University ( previously known as GRU)? I am going to be applying and if admitted I think I would prefer to make my move a few months post acceptance. I have 2 bachelors and my passion is with Psychiatric Mental health but I really don't want another Bachelors so the CNL seems just fine to have under my belt until I maneuver into a DNP program. It all sounds so pricey but in the end I believe it will be worth the while. I know I am early but hopefully others are interested. My scores aren't great but I saw people with similar scores with acceptance so lets just pray. I have great grades it is just one school gave me F's instead of W's when I withdrew in 2008 and I have had hell getting it off my record but it has no bearing on my gpa it is still "good" just not where it could be without 4-5 F's.

@ashleyb123- Thank you for the info! Hopefully we will all hear some good news soon! When I spoke to the recruiter at Augusta, she said you will receive a decision via mail regardless of acceptance or denial into the program :).

I've taken all of my pre-reqs online through Georgia Military College, and they have been great! I'm in Chem right now and have Micro and Stats left to take. I will be taking Micro May-Jul, it finishes in plenty of time for the program.

@trichick- agreed! How is Chem going? Do you have to go in person for the lab portion of Chem?

Chem is going really well so far! We are in week 6 out of 8 and I can see the finish line. Our instructor is awesome and very involved! We use a virtual lab for the lab portion, it's very similar to doing in-person experiments and the lab reports are the same. I even managed to virtually blow up a 50mL beaker because I wanted to see what would happen:roflmao: You have to pay an extra $80 for the lab access code, but I work 8pm-6am so I would gladly pay double if it meant not have to drag myself into a lab looking like a zombie!

While we anxiously wait, can I ask you all a question? Did anyone take an online Micro class? I've taken most of my pre-reqs at Athens Tech but their summer Micro class doesn't jive with my work schedule. Looking for alternatives. Anyone?

I believe registration for summer term starts in April at GMC, so if you want to apply you have plenty of time. I also confirmed that all of their courses transfer over with no issues whatsoever, including the 100% online science pre-reqs. The term ends towards the end of July, so you would have a 3-4 week breather before the program begins:)

Hi all! I barely got my application in by the deadline and they just received my test score. Status shows ready for review. Has anyone been contacted recently for an interview? Emily said they're still reviewing applications.

@trichick- I'm glad Chem is going well & can't believe you're almost finished with the class. It went by quickly! Thanks for the reassurance with the lab online, it will be first time completing a lab online. I'll need to let you know how Microbio goes since I'll be taking the course in March at GMC online. Kudos to you for breaking a beaker, you are making some Chemistry history :). Did you have any technical glitches with Chem or were the programs easily compatible to most computers? Good luck finishing up the course! You got this!

@bwk1209- As far as I have seen on the forum & in past years, the committee board meets once a month; therefore, interviews are once a month. The last interviews I'm aware of were back in mid January. You made the application deadline which is great so continue to stay patient, & you should hear an update by March. It takes awhile for all the forms to process and to ensure there are enough candidates to interview for a specific day. Good luck! We are all anxiously awaiting good news!

Thank you!!! I haven't found any glitches at all other than the fact that the lab program requires a good internet connection (I tried it at Panera one morning and it took a good while to load!). When I do it at home, however, it works very well! The virtual lab is through latenitelabs.com, but according to the online bookstore they use McGraw Hill Connect Plus for Micro. I used that for A&P and it was very user friendly! I had no issues with my MacBook.

@trichick- No problem! Thank you for the info! On average, how much time would you say you had to invest into the lecture & lab portion for Chem? Did your professor post lectures online in advance and available for chat/response to e-mails? I am trying to pick up some extra shifts at work and do not want to overbook myself when I take Micro next month.

Between listening to lectures, doing discussion posts, lab, homework, and the weekly quizzes I would say I spend about 8 hours a week plus extra if it's a tricky topic. My professor is awesome about communicating with us promptly whenever we needed it. All of the lectures for the week are posted at the beginning of the week and you can chip away at the assignments throughout the week.

Hey! I got my application in and verified my nursingcas on January 17, I was contacted for an interview on January 30, and had my phone interview on feb 10, my application status still says under review
