Grossmont Nursing Spring 2017 Cohort

Published

Hi! Good luck to everyone who applied for Spring 2017! I just wanted to start a thread for those of us anxiously awaiting to hear back. I will be applying to Mira Costa and Palomar, as well as SDCCD and southwestern later in the year. How many points does everyone thing they had? From what I've read, it seems like most cohorts hear back in mid-late September. I wish everyone the best!

I think I had 74 pts. They dont tell you and it is different every year, obviously depending on who else applies, but I hope this helps. When do you find out?

Hopefully I get in as well :( I have about 82 points.

April I believe

Does anyone know the last time that Grossmont offered the LVN to RN bridge? I don't understand why they are the only school that requires a minimum of 10 applicants.

Hi everyone who applied to Grossmont spring 2016 cohort! So excited to announce that today I got accepted into San Diego City College ADN program!!!! I will also be applying to grossmont again coming up in FEB. Anyone else out there form this thread also going to city?

Hi @EmilyMitchelle Congrats!!! I will also be applying to grossmont and palomar!! What are your points? I wish I made it into SDCC deadline lol

I'm honestly not too sure what my points were for SDCCD I applied just before I got my CNA so I think low 70s without that. But I have a lot of work experience in the hospital so I'm not sure if they counted that? Good luck!!!!

I created a new thread for those that applied to MiraCosta and/or Palomar for fall 2017. Also, If anyone is in either program now I would love to hear your thoughts/experience! I've calculated 85-86pts

Hi all! I'm thrilled that I was accepted for fall 2017! I was wondering if anyone has the schedule of classes for spring cohort so I can get an idea of the class order and schedule? Just trying to get an idea of how to prepare. Is there anything you wish you'd known before starting? Thanks so much!

Congrats! I would logon to webadvisor and pull up the spring 2017 courses. You can find all the courses for every semester under the student handbook: Student Handbook on pg 15. Semester one is NURS 118, 119, and 120. The schedule varies depending on your choice. If it is set up just like spring, you have the choice to have classes mon, wed, fri for the first month. Then it switches to just monday and friday with a clinical day on either wednesday or thursday. Or you can take the mon, tues, weds, fri for the first month. Then it changes to monday, tuesday, and friday with clinical on either weds or thurs. You don't really get to choose your clinical day. I personally liked the first option because after the first month, I had 2 days during the week to study. Other people liked the second option because they didn't have to stay at school all day on mondays. It is entirely your preference.

Anything I wish I had known before starting- that the pre-class assignments are not turned in for a grade. Still do them to the best of your ability because they will help prepare you for your exams and they guide you on what exactly to read. I spent hours working on them before the semester started, and all they do is glance at them. Also, you are going to be given a list of meds to look over at orientation. Complete the list, but dont stress about learning them during summer. You will learn all about them in your pharm class (118, 119).

You are amazing! Thank you so much! It's so nerve wracking to be this excited and have no information lol. Orientation is soon, thank god! Best of luck with classes and thanks again!

I totally understand. Be thinking about any and all questions. You will be assigned a mentor from 2-4th semester students and will meet them at orientation. They will be able to answer even more questions for you! Or ask here. I will try my best to answer :)
