SDMamma 101 Posts Nov 7, 2008 where you an alternate or a 2nd letter candidate? No, I am neither. I am a generic entry (not an LVN) student so I will go through the entire 2 year ADN program.

SDMamma 101 Posts Nov 7, 2008 i wonder why you got the letter so late they sent them out at the end of oct.Well, I was chosen out of the Scripps Healthcare Grant program which is made available to Scripps employees. We have all the same requirements as regular waitlisted students, but in addition to those we had to submit an essay, letters of rec from managers, and most recent performance evaluation. The program was created in June 2008.http://www.scripps.org/news_items/3308-scripps-health-partners-with-grossmont-college-school-of-nursing

For my hospital alone Scripps had 21 slots for Spring and I was lucky #22. I must have gotten in based on SOMEONE not accepting....so THANK YOU if you were that person :)
SDMamma 101 Posts Nov 7, 2008 Ok so I just took a look at my Grossmont acceptance letter and it is dated October 17th, 2008. That makes me alittle peeved that despite the fact that I called several times to see if I was chosen, they barely gave me the news today.Nonetheless, I am happy to be accepted, I just dont see why if this letter is dated almost a month ago, why did they withhold the info.

But I will say that they allow casual or per diem employees to apply too if they have been @ Scripps for at least one year. You have to actually be paid by Scripps though, not a staffing registry.
JenRN2011 90 Posts Nov 11, 2008 Just curious if anyone got thier letters from Grossmont. I was in the office today dropping off my Teas transcript and was told a lot of people have dropped off. I got on the wait list August of this year and was told I was slated for class of 2011.
