Grossmont Fall 2018 Cohort

Published

Is the right place for the topic? I tried to search for an existing thread but couldn't find it.

I'm hoping to meet other applicants for the Fall 2018 ADN program at Grossmont. I just finished my TEAS (92%) with an estimated 83-85 points overall. Let's get to know each other!

Sharp Grossmont, Scripps La Jolla, or the old Kaiser are the clinical location and you don't get to pick which one. Its random pick.

Is old Kaiser the location on Zion or in La Mesa? Or another location?

Okay thank you, I think I will give the A and B tests a try, even with cost.. At this point I see that as my only hope for raising my points.

If you don't mind me asking, how many points did you have on your application overall?

I think I was 86ish...

They don't tell you though.

The one off Zion I believe

74 :(

I didn't have enough classes to qualify for an associates, I have 2 B's in my anatomy/physiology classes, and then the score of 79.4 on my TEAS.

I wouldn't get too upset yet. I have heard of people getting in with 74 points before. And if you don't, you can reapply in the fall because there are usually fewer applicants so it's less competitive. You could try retaking one of your A&P classes for a better grade to raise your GPA or retake the TEAS. I would just make sure that you study really hard for the TEAS because I think you can only take it twice.

Thank you for the positivity! Yes I think this time I will really study hard. I think I thought it would be easier so I didn't devote much time to it; big regret!

I am going to speak with a counselor at Grossmont about retaking A&P if I get a for sure "not accepted" email to the nursing program. I am not sure if I can retake on the same campus, the only other school that offered it was National and they don't accept financial aid for retakes so that class would be $1,600 out of pocket!

I think you can retake one science class, but I believe you need approval from a counselor. They sometimes offer A&P 1 over the summer so you could potentially retake it this summer and then reapply in July/August for the spring semester. Even if you end up paying out of pocket for it, $46 a credit is still better than $1,600!

Absolutely! I will call and schedule a visit tomorrow and get the ball rolling just in case.. Hopefully it will not be needed though...thank you for your help :)

Of course! Let me know if you hear anything :)
