Grossmont Fall 2018 Cohort

Published

Is the right place for the topic? I tried to search for an existing thread but couldn't find it.

I'm hoping to meet other applicants for the Fall 2018 ADN program at Grossmont. I just finished my TEAS (92%) with an estimated 83-85 points overall. Let's get to know each other!

Thanks for the thread.

I got accepted for fall 2018 and cant wait to start the program :D

anyone else got accepted yet

Hi all! Congrats on all the acceptants! I'm still waiting to hear back, was hoping I would be notified by this week for second round emails. Does anyone know when the second round goes out? I turned in my application with 81 points.

I believe this Friday (April 6), they will send out the second round of emails because that was the date last year cohort got their emails for the second round!!

I haven't heard anything either. I was really hoping that the second round would go out this week. Although maybe it already has? I wish they would tell us what's going on

Congrats to all who got their acceptances already, I am so excited for you! I'm still standing by to hear anything back. With 79 points i'm most likely near the bottom of the totem pole, unfortunately. Trying to hold on to the last glimmer of hope I have! This waiting game is going to end me haha.

I'm in the same boat! Keeping my fingers crossed for both of us :)

Hey guys I see that some people received acceptance letters with 82 points.. I also have 82 points and have not received an acceptance letter.. is there any other criteria of why some people with the same points would get accepted and others not? I also emailed grossmont to check if they counted all my points. Or if this has happened to anyone and your experience please share

Did you get a response? They don't seem to be very forthcoming with information. I'm thinking either 1. people are miscalculating their points, 2. they're not giving us as many points as we're thinking we have (they're picky about volunteer time, life experience points, etc.), or 3. they're not going solely based on the points system. I'm thinking it's a combination of the last 2. It seems to have happened in past years, as well after reading their posts on here.

Not yet.. I'm sure they're busy so I'm not expecting to get a response for a few days... I was told by admissions that my volunteer work would be accepted, but who knows maybe they decided not to give me points for it..I only got like one point for life experience if they even gave me it.. It seems as if they could be accepting students based on a combination of what you've said. In past forums I've read people that say they got in with 74 points and people who say they have not for the same cohort. So weird.. I'm just freaking out now.

I'm also trying to figure out the same thing with my points I keep counting and counting lol I I come up wit 86 points if given all life experience 4 pts but even if they don't give all 4 I know I have 2 for sure so I'm still with 84 pts huh. I called and asked how they give their pts on the second language section and told them Spanish is my native language. They told me as long as I submitted letter from like employer stating I speak Spanish they will me all 3 pts and I did have 2 letter from 2 doctors stating I'm bilingual so I'm breaking my head over here too with plp having about the same range of pts or less and got accepted. I have no clue how they are doing this.

What?! How could you have 86 points and not be accepted? From what I've read you are well over the range for points to get accepted... even with 84 you should be in... I will let you know if they respond to my email tomorrow and what they say.. I might even call them because this confuses me. How the heck are they accepting students. Are you from out of the area? I'm from Orange County so I'm wondering if this could be why :(

Hi mschajoy, I'm also from OC I got my AS at Santa Ana college so most of my classes are from SAC. I'm in Oceanside now I had to repeat micro at miracosta bc it expired last fall and did math there too. I didn't do soo great on the teas but still managed to have high pts bc of 4.0 gpa in sciences and 3.8 on prerequisites, have a health certificate on medical assistant, which it says you get 5 pts for having an allied health certificate. I work for Scripps now .I have been a medical assistant since 2012 so have plenty of work experience. I was thinking the same as you about having my classes from another college but they all match Grossmont so is not fair if they are making decisions based on that, should not matter.Where did you take your classes? I actually applied for at SAC for fall, did you?
