SCRIPPS New Grad RN Residency (August/October 2022)
Hi friend, It depends on the unit on how the interview would go. But I believe your interview will be panel interview with the manager and couple supervisors or clinical mentors on that unit, or possibly just the manager (but mainly manager and supervisors or mentors). They usually just ask typical behavioral questions for interview and nothing clinical so just prepare for general why nursing, why that unit, why Scripps, conflicts with another co-worker, etc. Clinical questions can come up but I haven't heard any Scripps asking clinical questions for new grad interviews, however, better to be prepared just in case! I think starting pay for new grads is $46 and $48 (BSN). New grad program typically runs close to 9 months with some education classes you take off the floor while you're still working FT.

MiraCosta, Palomar, Grossmont Fall 2019 Applicants
Hi Sharon, It looks like someone pretty much answered your questions but yes, the pass rate of the NCLEX at Palomar is always high. I believe a semester that graduated recently had a 100% pass rate. Palomar's been birthing nurses for a really long time so they really know exactly what they're doing and what is best for the students. I'm not gonna lie, it's a very challenging program than most other programs (including the 4 year universities) but it's really to prepare you to be the best nurse and it really works. And Palomar has a very good standing and reputation among the big hospitals in San Diego such as Palomar Hospital, Sharp Hospitals, and Scripps Hospitals and many more. The nurses always compliment us when we go on the floor for clinical because they know Palomar students are always prepared and know what they're doing. So the hire rate is also really good for Palomar students. Like I said, they have a really good reputation among the hospitals so you have a high chance of getting hired after you graduate but I would advice you to start working at the hospital you want to work at if you can or start the summer after you finish the first year of nursing school. Scripps especially always hire internally first so they hire their own employees before they hire external applicants (those who don't work at scripps). Having your foot inside the door way earlier will definitely give you 90% of chance being hired. The hospitals we do clinical at the moment is Scripps Encinitas, Scripps Green, Palomar Hospital, Kaiser, and Tri-City. So they're always looking for openings in different hospitals so it may change but those are the most common hospitals you will do your clinical at. So class size, they will accept 36 students and also put in 2 alternate students with you guys during 1st semester. They allow those 2 alternates to stay for about 3 weeks in case anyone drops or gets dropped during those 3 weeks so they can take the spot but if no one gets dropped, they will comeback next semester. And when you begin your 3rd semester, thats when the LVNs will join you guys because they already know the basics of nursing so they don't need to repeat the basically the same classes they took during LVN school. So for 1st semester, you'll have 2 instructors (we don't call them professors). They're amazing so you'll like them a lot. 2nd semester you have 3 instructors (MedSurg, OB, PEDS), 3rd and 4th will also have 3 or more for the specialties they teach.

Congrats to everyone who got accepted to Palomar Nursing! And for those still waiting for acceptance letters or call, don't lose your hope yet. This is a long process and you can still get accepted few weeks before class begins or after the orientation if a spot opens up! I'm currently a student at Palomar and it's really a privilege to be able to attend this school as Palomar is very well known as one of the top nursing school in san diego among the community and the hospitals here. Just wanted to come by and answer any questions you guys may have that I can hopefully clear up for you.

Mira Costa, Palomar, etc. Spring 2019 Cohort
@TheClassCat Actually CSU's have 3 year program. 2 year of actual RN studies and 1 year for BSN. If you want to work while getting your BSN, I would recommend Palomar or any other ADN programs because you're able to take the NCLEX after 2 years and do your BSN online or such while working. But for CSU's, for example CSU San Marcos, you have to wait until you get your BSN to take your NCLEX if you're doing the traditional route. Hope that helps!

Mira Costa, Palomar, etc. Spring 2019 Cohort
Hi everyone! I just wanted to say congrats to those that got in already for Palomar and crossing my fingers for those who are still waiting to hear back! I'm currently a 1st-semester student at Palomar and I can relate to most of you being really nervous about hearing back from schools because that was me just few months ago. But I just wanted to ask for those who are coming to Palomar's Orientation on Novemeber 27th, is there anything that you guys wanted to hear from the current first semester students. We have 6 students from my cohort, including me coming to the orientation on the 27th to talk to you guys about our experience so far and the different expectations nursing school has from you. If you have any suggestions or questions about nursing school that you would like to hear or have answer to, please reply to this message before the 27th so my cohort can come up with the best answer or advice for you guys starting in the Spring 2019. Thanks :)

MiraCosta Palomar Grossmont Fall 2018 ADN
I believe they sent out all the acceptance letters so far so if you haven't gotten any rejection letter, I think it means you're an alternate of last pick just in case someone happens to give up their spot before the program starts. So it can actually take awhile like until few weeks before the program start. It's a long process but if someone happens to give up their spot few weeks before the program starts, hopefully you'll get an acceptance email!! :)

I think it's good at least you did not get a decline letter because I remember reading the past cohorts thread and some people got their decline emails the day they sent out the first letter of acceptance I believe so keep your fingers crossed!!

Congrats to everyone that got in!!! I'm only waiting on Palomar now as I got denied at Grossmont but I just got an e-mail saying I'm on the standby list for Palomar so I'm guessing that means I'm an alternate? I have no idea but I really hope I get in!!
