I missed the show, but I guess that I'll be missing it in the future. What a prehistoric idea. Did the nurses also have on little tight dresses with huge prostitute blonde hair under our little white cap with nasty bright red lipstick and talk like Betty Boop?

Uggg, not again! Those hollywood types must have never been in a hospital, birthing center, LTC facility, etc. I love that Patrick guy (from 'Cant buy me love') but theres no way I'm watching if its "ER part two." Just show me were to send my angry letters!

Oh my god! I haven't posted in a long time, but I just had to post again. I'm watching the premier of Grey's Anatomy -- any of you see this?? (new show on ABC)
The Doctor, after being questioned by a nurse says, "I'm just a resident, but you take 4 years of medical school, and let me know if I'm right." (Did I quote it right?)
Then, as he walks away he says, "I hate nurses."
Then, he walks up to a female resident and mistakenly calls her a nurse and she responds, with anger and indignation, "Did you just call me a nurse?" As though it were a racial slur!
I mean, nurses have historically been marginalized in many mass media outlets, but this is amazing!!

I love it! I think the show is great and I can't wait for next weeks show! :)

I thought of the exact same thing....I knew I 'd find something written here about that comment. I was extremely offended. I will also write to the network about that comment, they're in heap, big trouble now.....

I'm reminded of this one time when I ran into a friend of my parents at the store. I hadn't seen him in a long time, and he asked how school was going and what i was planning to do. I told him I was planning on majoring in nursing...and his response was " :stone oh..............Have you seen Meet the Fockers..." and kind of tried to make a joke about male nurses. *sigh*

What I want to know is when will there ever be a show about the work and the sacrifices nurses make?

When the public stops seeing nurses through some diaphenous filter, all dewy eyed and meek...a la the Johnson & Johnson "Discover Nursing" campaign. I think the tagline for one of their commercials is "I care. I am a nurse."

It really ought to be, "I do the vast majority of the work, since the doctor sees you for about three minutes a day when you're in the hospital. Oh, and I keep the green residents from killing you. If it weren't for me, you'd never get your medications, the physicians would have no clue what's going on with you, and you'd probably be lying in a pool of your own excrement. I am a nurse."

*That* would be truth in advertising.

Maybe then, people would stop saying, "oh, rachel, you're so smart- why didn't you go to medical school? Why are you JUST going to be a nurse?"

My answer is always the same: "give me a call after your next hospitalization. you'll know."

what was so offensive about the show? was when the doctor called the intern a nurse and she got upset? if that isn't it, please fill me in. i think i stepped away from the tv for a few moments, and i may have missed something.

I'm glad I didn't watch it. After seeing the reviews here, I wouldn't watch it if it were the only show on the air.
