Grey's Anatomy Premier!!! + How to Contact Show Creators

Published

Oh my god! I haven't posted in a long time, but I just had to post again. I'm watching the premier of Grey's Anatomy -- any of you see this?? (new show on ABC)

The Doctor, after being questioned by a nurse says, "I'm just a resident, but you take 4 years of medical school, and let me know if I'm right." (Did I quote it right?)

Then, as he walks away he says, "I hate nurses."

Then, he walks up to a female resident and mistakenly calls her a nurse and she responds, with anger and indignation, "Did you just call me a nurse?" As though it were a racial slur!

I mean, nurses have historically been marginalized in many mass media outlets, but this is amazing!!

Okay, I just watched the second episode, and I have to say my opinion is completely unchanged. I absolutely love this show, I'm sorry. It's officially on my TiVO season pass list. It's about doctors, not nurses. I accept that, and am just watching for entertainment. Of course I'd love it if they make a serious medical drama about nurses, and I think if they did it would actually help out this nursing shortage. But I don't see any reason to boycott this show, personally.

Something about it just grabs me. It's a sick pleasure, really, watching all these surgical interns doing scut work, getting reemed out on a regular basis, and royally screwing up each week. Like I said in my previous post, it's probably because I work at a teaching hospital and deal with green docs all the time. Watching this show reminds me of the first season of ER, where Carter was bumbling around in every episode with that deer caught in headlights look on his face.

And Patrick Dempsey looks gorgeous in scrubs.

I'm with you... I thought it was great..

I think Dempsey looks Hot in his Scrubs too!!!!

I like the show too. I guess I am taking it for what it is. a show about interns that is supposed to entertain. it is fiction. When I feel the need to see things that are true and accurate it I will watch discovery health channel.

Shows like Grays Anatomy are why I watch Scrubs :D

I wouldn't worry...anyone that has been in a hospital will realize that Nurses run the show. A few years back my wife was in the hospital for 4 days and she saw a doctor once for 5 minutes. Her care and recovery was all the nurses work. The Doctors are just there to assist them on occasion :p

I think everyone is taking this a little to personally. This is TV! How many times have you yourselves been "ofended" because someone called you an aide when you were an LPN, or an LPN when your an RN etc. We have all done it, I have found myself thinking "An aide! I worked harder than that!", but really if you consider how much the aide's do, it really isn't an insult. Yes it was proably ment to be degrading, but why take things so personally? As I said before, it's just TV!

I wasn't offended...I didn't really like the show though. It's like how many hospital dramas and forensic police dramas can the market support??? :uhoh3:

This show stinks and is demeaning to nurses, but I have to see my man Patrick Dempsey! I think from now on I'll mute the TV.

What's up with ABC and nurses lately? Did anyone catch Desperate Housewives last night? At least DH can get away with spoofing nurses because it's such a campy show. GA however is a medical drama, they really should invest in better consultants.

Yeah, you're talking about a network that has a show (a horrible one at that) called "Desperate Housewives" airing before GA. Image isn't a concern to them.

Dempsey (and his nose) look a lot like Sean Penn. Here's the Penn "dude" as Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

I wans't offended or overly impressed with Grey's. Not a true TV fan anyway, but like someone said...not worth getting upset over as it's all just entertainment.

ok so a friend of mine found out what some md students feel about grey's anatomy, check it out and then tell me how you feel after reading their comments! http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=187490

It's a shame studentdoctor.com doesn't have the real names, so i know who NOT to go to when i need REAL care.

It's pretty pointless reading the "opinions" at studentdoctor.net. They are so exceedingly petty and immature that it reads like a forum for highschoolers. They rarely base their opinions on fact but instead seem to have a bitter disregard for nurses which suggests envy or fear.
