HI all,
I am an Indian(born) as a background. I hold australian citizenship and working as RN in Australia( sydney). My question is that how long it takes to get green card of USA under nurses programme.
What are the different ways to get work permit or green card of USA.How can i get work in USA.I have heard that it takes really long time for Indian ,Chinese and Philipino nurses to get green card due to retroregression. As i am an Naturalized Australian citizen will that help to expedite my green card.
Can some one pleasse shed some light on this issue.
thanks

Can I suggest you read the threads in this section about retrogression as there is already much posted on working in the US

Greencard is allocated on place of birth so you will be affected by retrogression, however as a Australian citizen you could, as long as you meet requirements, use the E3 visa and suggest you check out posts by ghillbert as they are in the US on a E3 visa

E3 is a no-brainer BUT you have to find an employer and get your US license before applying.

do you know when is the time in which I can apply for green card?
hey Ghilbert,
thanks for your post .........
i know that I can apply for E3 visa ..... but my question has not been answered yet... like i am Australian citizen and have done nursing practice here.. is there any chances that my green card will be processed faster or i will still be affected by retrogression.

Just because you are in the US working on a E3 will not make your GC application go any faster, you will still be affected by retrogression however with the E3 visa you can continue working in the US as long as you maintain requirements whilst your GC application is being processed. For many others this is not an option however for Australian citizens and the E3 and Canadian and Mexican citizens and the NAFTA the option to work in the US whilst processing immigrant visa is good as long as requirements are met
As above, of course you don't get to skip the line for a green card. You do, however get to work while waiting, as does your spouse.
hi ghilbert,
you mean i cannot have green card processed while working on e3 visa in usa?
thanks for your reply
Read my post again, I said nothing of the sort. I said you can't get it any faster than anyone else ie. several years.
thanks for your quick reply... i am sorry i should have read that before asking you.
