Hi all,

I am new to this site and new to nursing - hopefully! I am applying to the LPN program at GL Tech evening division. Is anyone else here going or has gone to that program? I am taking the NET in June (the last test date) and I just ordered study materials. I have to pass it because it is the last time they offer it!!! I am 40yrs old and completely changing my career so I am hoping I am not the oldest in the program if I get in. So send out a hello if you are going to the program at Lowell Tech.

So Tuesday night was cool and very informative!! First I think I saw you in the back towards the middle but I wasnt sure if it was you! I was the girl who came in a half hour late!! Yeaaaaaaa damn traffic and having to wait for my boyfriend to get out of work. We are currently sharing a car. I cant make it to tonight's meeting! If anyone is could you let me know how it goes and what is discussed? I have to work tonight :( I will definitely make it next week though

Yep I was with a couple of girls from work! I had the white shorts and blue hollister top, and the zebra print bag lol! :D I had a feeling that was you! :) I'll let you know the scoop tonight. See you next week!

Ok so here's what you missed! We went over chapter 1 and 2, she emphasized that the questions we'll be taking on our tests will be less about memorization and more about taking that information we learn and applying it, scenarios, etc. She also went over relaxation before the tests, etc, and that we should do our best to lessen the anxiety because we all feed off of each other's anxiety making the classroom morale low. We also got a sheet with Monday-Sunday blocked off hourly, which we were to shade in how many hours we'd be in class, work, travel, etc. Showing how many hours we have available to study, basically emphasizing that if you can, work as little as possible because it's just too difficult to juggle all of the responsibilities. And she gave people tips on how to balance these things if a long work week is absolutely necessary. And that's about it! See you Tuesday! :)

Omg I am sooo mad that I will be missing tonight's meeting again!!! Boyfriend had to stay late at work tonight and we only have one car right now. I was wondering if you could fill me in again First!! Im soooo annoyed:mad:

That's great! Thank you for taking the time, we can't wait to see you and hear all of that info! I just made the vision board for days :)

Hey Ladi, that stinks! It'll all work out for you, no worries! Mr yavarow was there for a few minutes he stressed having the books, uniforms ordered by now and the health form completed asap. As for class; We basically went over chapters 3 and 4, then we took notes and made flashcards on a printed page from the anatomy book. She then critiqued the notes we took, giving us little tips, like keeping it short and sweet especially on the flashcards. And she suggested creating flashcards in the class itself in between note taking especially if a teacher says 'this will be on the test yada yada' pull out a flashcard and write it down! :) And we're going to finish the vision board up so bring in something to put on it! :) And the students are coming for the last night woooooooo! :lol2:

OMG you guys...my laptop connection has been on the fritz so I couldnt read or post!!! Doesnt it feel real now!!!! I was really overwhelmed last nite with all the info from the past students - I loved it but I am more scared than ever!! I feel like I have so much to do in the next week - like getting a better laptop & network!! I still have to go and buy all my binders and find a decent pair of shoes and a decent bookbag.

Great job on the vision board first! I was sitting on the right side of the room, 3rd row from the front. I did go to all of the Prep classes but I cant believe that only 1/2 the people went. A girl that sat next to me the first nite never came back - I am wondering if she dropped out or just didnt bother going to the course. I am glad I went because I feel a little better prepared but I wish that we were told more about the ins and outs of the program rather than waiting for orientation. I am glad I am only working 1 day a week (fridays). I did like that we got to meet a few of our future classmates

gltech2010 - were you there last nite? First & Ladi - I guess I will see you girls at graduation!!!! (since you are in days & Im nites) Good luck and stay strong and check in here every once in a while!!!

Oh man yea, no hiding from it now ladies! Hey I thought that was you! I was in the back, middle row, first seat on the right, I was sitting with two girls I work with, and the guy grad that came last night is also one of my coworkers :) Thanks alot! I tried to make it as bright as I could. it came out nice considering I didn't measure I just did it by eye, usually it gets lopsided when I do that hehe!

And definitely, we all need to be there for each other because now we're all in it as a team!

Sawyer are you days or evenings? sorry dont want to go back and read whole thread. I was the woman third (?) one from your right. Was standing beside your co worker for a while. I spoke a lot that night, and kept going up to the back to answer your questions I think? You were sitting in your coworkers seat?

If you have any other questions let me know. I was days and there are some tips that I could give you.

The teachers are awesome on days and will do everything to help.

I came out of a trade with no knowledge of nursing and did ok.

gltech - I am evenings and had no coworkers there - I think that was first. Anyway, thanks for coming and giving us all of the info - it really helped a lot! CPR class tonite and 1 week from today it begins!!!!!
