Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
My group did the same thing! I told them 300 words max and I would edit. Yeah, ok, everyone wrote like 600-700 words! Ugh, that was a pain to edit!
I find that really unfair. You get nailed if you write OVER the word limit and you get point deductions if you don't address the syllabus. Thankfully, none of my instructors cared and the ones that did, I dropped before I started.
Someone please find me a sharp stick so I can shove it through my eye! We have a limit of 1000 words (1100 max) for our Ethics CLC. My partner doing the first of 4 sections wrote almost 700 words. That leaves 400 words for 3 more sections. This was even AFTER I posted that our instructor will reduce our grade if we go over. The good news is that they practically wrote the whole paper. Most of my section was covered in her post. Hopefully she can rework it or our proofreader/editor is going to have her work cut out for her.
My first CLC I had two people assigned to one section. We were a group of 6. The one girl was to hand in for them both...but no, no, no. I had finished the ppt and in comes 6 pages of notes, most of it plagiarism. I had a heart attack, hissy fit, and seizure all at the same time. Ok the hissy fit happened after I ran it through Grammarly and got hit after hit. At that point the outline was out the door and I started combining slides and became the slice and dice queen. No one said a word and we got all our points. From then on CLCs had to be handed in no later than Tuesday. This last CLC was a dream it was amazing. Only one person did I have to run through perrla and she had all her websites so it was straight forward. I never thought I'd say this but give me a CLC over stats. I just read the first of my reading for week 4. Oh my oh my. What you say?!!! ANOVA!!!!
What you say?!!! ANOVA!!!!
Isn't that a car?
Yep - a car that doesn't go! The DQs in Stats were unbearable. At least the DQs in Family and Ethics are interesting and there is a lot of discussion. I think if I only had one class right now instead of two, I would feel differently about Ethics. The good news is that my partner was able to cut her portion down to a reasonable amount of words. I feel pretty alone in my group because whenever I ask for group input - like "what opinion are we taking as a group on this 550 point ethical dilemma?" I either get no answer or a "Yes, thank you" which does not answer the question that we need to address. The end result is going to be a complete surprise. Either way, it will be over in 2 weeks!
Anova was a mind boggling concept for me.
Pandora and I had one clc that had a person who had no idea how to reference or cite. What a train wreck. Her writing skills were ok (ESL), but it was a lot of editing. Six pages of plagiarism would make me highly upset too! How dumb are these people?
Another mind boggling event are those that share their papers...names and all on those paper warehouses websites
I always wondered how those papers got there. Some are really awful. Do they get paid for those?
If we have to do these stupid CLC assignments, then I would rather have the smallest group possible. the group I am in now is 6 people, and because I initiated topics and getting started, some dog said I should be leader. alright, you wanna play that way? This class is Health Assessment. So 3 people start posting their research like we were asked to, but only the instructor wanted us to provide in in ppt form. I bring that up and I get shot down. I turned my stuff in ppt form. Another student followed suit so we shall see what happens. Btw,, got shot down by the very girl who said I was the leader. Grrrrrrr.

I hated it when people would say crap like that. That's why Pandora and I did the editing. No input means agreement:no: and I can do what I want.

They promise you access to the premium papers IF you submit yours. It's not always the case though. GCU sent an email months ago warning those that used those sites could be sent packing.
