Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
The instructors love it when you use the actual wording from the rubric. I just wrote the "Moral Compass" stupid paper for Ethics and somehow forgot the include the words "moral compass." I guess I figured if I described it well enough in other terms, that it wouldn't be an issue. Nope - they want you to use the actual words. In a way, the program kind of discourages you from thinking too much. Just play by the rules and use the words they give you and everything will work out fine.
Ohhhhhhhh Myyyyyyyyy Gggggggggggg
I cannot stop laughing, WHY did I never know this??? For like a zillion papers now, I have Thesaurus (dot com) open and I keep switching to and fro. I just want to smack myself, yeah, I is kollej muhteer-euhl fer shuurrrr. Good GRIEF. Thanks for the tip PurpleMyst!

I changed the name, maybe twice because my OCD ways didn't like the way it looked, lol.
Noodles, have you LOOKED at the DQ 3/1???? What THE?
Normally by the time I log on Monday mornings to the classroom, there are at least 5-10 students who have already posted their DQ answers for the Wednesday question. It has been this way since the beginning, every single class (and occasionally I'm one of those people). But THIS one, holy schmolie, this DQ is literally double the work of a PAPER! And it's worth 5 points?? It's Monday evening, after 7PM, and there ain't one single post in there. Nothing. Nada. Blank. Crickets. People have even started posting their Friday DQ and are avoiding this one. I just don't understand, it's kinda insane a smidge.
Ethics, while interesting, is easily my least favorite so far. 2 CLCs that count for 550/1000 points of the grade and DQs are only worth 5 points and they are ridiculously long! What exactly were they thinking when they structured this class? So far several people have posted on DQ1, but they missed the whole point of writing about an actual ethical dilemma. One guy wrote the whole thing about how he handled his patient's request for a cigarette in the middle of the night. I'm sorry, but smoking is not an ethical dilemma. My problem is trying to come up with an actual dilemma that I remember enough to write about.

So are the posts so far (except for the guy jonesin' for a smoke) addressing each of the 9 points by Uustal? 5 points. I wanna hurt somebody.
Yep. They are just going down the line 1 - 9 and addressing each point. Once I actually pick a topic, I don't think it will be that bad. I just keep telling myself "It will all be over soon." In 18 days will be done with both classes and will have a week off! I always make sure I finish everything in the class by Friday of the last week so I can breathe over the weekend.
Yeah, that was a very long DQ. Painful indeedy. I think I was becoming coherent at that point but still not feeling well. I didn't post that sucker until a Tuesday night and I was typically a Monday (for both) person.
Sadly, I worked in a really crappy hospital and had plenty of ethical dilemma's to choose from.
I ended up using an incident that occurred when I was working as a correctional nurse. There are LOTS of ethical dilemmas in the jail!

Stats is like this on Monday's and Tuesday's for the most part (crickets, lots of crickets)....I'm looking at week 3's dq's and want to cry...my head cannot expand any more....someone take Winterwhite28 to the deflating room ASAP!!!
It's bad when you don't have time for social media...I just watched an almost 20 minute video to make a comment on, and to be honest with you...at one point I thought she was speaking a different language...oh right, it was Greek! My husband just read a title to an article Statistics or Sadistics.....:lol2:

I actually prefer when the assignment requires an abstract. It makes things so much easier for me.
