Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

tokmom --- I haven't been on here very much, but I now want to publicly proclaim, CONGRATULATIONS to you, as well as say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for being my buddy throughout these past 16 months and always having my back. I still remember meeting you here on AN while I was doing my research on schools. GCU wasn't really on my radar, but after chatting with you, I decided to give it a go , and I'm sooooooooooo glad I did!!! You've been the best buddy ever, girl!!!    THANKS AGAIN!!!!!

And I want to thank you Pandora for helping with school, editing skills, and putting up with my near anxiety attacks over APA! We will always be GCU buddies and I think it is neat we met here on AN, and went on this GCU journey together! I don't know if I could have gotten through this program without you and I really mean that. You kept me going when I wanted to quit.

You better still text me and keep in touch, you silly girl. :):inlove::yes:

AND I WANT TO SAY: CONGRATS PANDORA RN-BSN!!!!

Tokmom, OMG!!! No FUN! I'm sure this cold/flu hasn't helped one bit, I've just felt totally wiped out. It's encouraging to know that although the the material from the class is probably the easiest (from what I hear), it's the adjusting that makes it so hard in the beginning. Thank you for your encouraging words Tokmom and I hope to get into the zone real quick :)

It was a huge adjustment for me and I think I can answer for Pandora as well. Just when we thought we understood how the classes were designed, the next class had a completely different set up, such as a 2 paper CLC, or a DQ worth more points and with references. As I said in a post before, my GCU advisor called me while I work. I was soooo annoyed with the class workload (and having a bad day at work, to make matters worse) that I took the call in the supply hallway, stuck between a blanket warmer and a rack of SCD machines, trying to blend in with walkers hanging behind my head. I was soo mad at GCU for this intense workload (that is designed to be doable with a FT job, so they say) that I gave my poor advisor some heated advice on their curriculum!:sneaky: He assured me that it was doable and this was just a huge learning curve for me, and I would be "OK". Sure enough, I found that groove and even though I hated those pesky DQ's until the last one, and complained about the papers, I still was able to pass this program, with kids, committee work, family life and work.

I did it, Pandora did it, and JRich will be finished soon. Just keep plugging away and take one class at a time.

Hi Rainyn, I'm also in Family Centered Health but just started my 4th week and I feel my motivation for school going down hill real fast :(

Hi Rainyn and RN Mommy, I am also in Family Centered Care. This is only my second class. I don't think I am in your class as I have no idea what a CAT is... :nailbiting:

You have all been busy...I have this weekend to finish Health Assessment. 2 assignments in one week has killed my social life...I will catch up with you all on Monday!

A CAT is an extra question. I have no idea what CAT stands for. Our prof in research had extra questions, but we didn't have to answer them.

Just remember, school is temporary, that BSN is forever!

so in this second class of mine, I wake up this morning and log in and low and behold there is another question and before the question it reads, "Although you are NOT graded on this question, participation will be noted". Umm excuse me, I have enough work to do as it is. This must be a CAT..

I'm new to allnurses, but just found your thread. I'm currently a GCU student starting module 3 for Trends and Issues... I have Patho and then capstone. I've doubled up the last week and first week the last two classes so I should be done 8/17/14!!! I also need 3 credits so am planning on taking DSST - Here's to your health. Has anyone taken in and can you give me advice?

My current class (my 10th) just started doing the CAT as well. Frustrating when you already have so much to do.
