Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
I'm in my last week of Leadership and think it is a straight forward class that is fairly easy. The assignments haven't been bad either. Maybe it's your instructor?

Instructors can definitely make or break a course. Thank goodness for all the suggestions through this forum.
LOL very true!!!
I think I only ran into a familiar name once or twice, even when I did classes back-to-back. There are so many jillions of students and classes that start Q-Monday it's no wonder. That, however, can be a good thing, `cause typically I didn't want to have to worry about getting stuck in the same CLC with the same peeps!
Can I ask who your professor is? I need to go back through all these threads now and look for names of Profs

So if you want to request certain professor you just have to do it through your adviser? I see it automatically registers you for classes.

Save yourself the time, there will be no professors listed in this thread as AN does not allow specific names. You can PM individual members to ask their experience. With that being said, not every student will "grade" a instructor the same way. I personally wanted someone who graded fairly, it was a bonus if they returned my grade quickly. Another issue that both Prism and I ran into was an instructor that were great in one class turned nazi in another. With that being said, I will PM you my instructors. :) Oh and yes, just call your advisor and let her/him know who you would like to have.

Yes that's correct, and be prepared for some potential push-back. Some SAs are like "no problem!" but some say "you can't do that". I think they forget sometimes that it's our money and our education, and if I do not anticipate having a positive educational experience with a particular instructor, I'm not paying and I'm not going.

ACK Nooooooooo! SM is a website that is basically a term paper warehouse. Students from all over submit their papers so they can get free access to view other people's papers. It's a pay-site, but you can still spy the first page or so of someone's paper before it cuts you off. There were times I looked at it just to see what other people did on a particular assignment to see what direction they went to guage my understanding of the assignment description, but eventually I realized that 99.9% of the papers on there were not to my personal standards of academic writing. Also, you have no idea what kind of grade they got on that paper so it's a gamble to use it as an example. Also also, GCU is very aware of that website and frequently sends out emails saying they DO look at these types of sites and reminds that this is a clear violation of University policy - so if one has posted anything there they'd better get it taken down or risk disciplinary action. No thanks!
