Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
Well now she is complaining that she has all this work she is doing alone with no help. HELLO......if you turned in work that had actual sentences on your part and participate in discussions! The thread about the FHP and interview has almost 100 posts......she has 2 of them.
I politely went off today. I have put hours into this, the other members have all done the same with each of us doing 2-4 parts of the FHP, which we did not ask her to do any as she had the interview, write it up to turn in and do summary. Now she is whining! OHHHHhhhh and saying she cant get it done until thursday.....how is she going to get help on the dx?? .........dont go there missy! Had you bust your hiney like the rest of us and had it in by Sunday, all of us could help with that section!
ok....off my soapbox - been on one most of the day......
Yay another 'lope in the house!
Yea!!!! Welcome. I just found this forum - loving it!
I swear GCU plants a slacker in every group...they are not even an actual student...just a moron to see how u deal with it,lol I actually had been lucky up until patho...and finally ran into a slacker....at least it was a very easy project and actually worked to our advantage of her doing nothing.....Still sort of ticks 1 off though, lol no appearance for 12 straight days in our online(email) discussions...but was nice of her to approve our submission, lol Thanks to networking--I already know I have a slacker in Trends..but maybe she was just having a rough course!!
Our Trends prof has provided oodles of material...plus 2 things on plagiarizing, lol which u have to say u have read!! Fine with me, the way I write, (not saying it is good,lol)--but unique, def not plagerism! ,lol
I remember that one. I nearly peed my pants laughing when the girl in mine scanned in the signed copy of the agreement. Her notes and the person she interviewed had IDENTICAL hand writing. She didn't have the brains to hand it to a spouse or friend! My husband scoffed then looked at it and all I got was the widening of eyes and then the lifted brow!! I submitted it as I figured no one would look at it like I did and I could always play dumb as I was NOT opening that can of worms.
I am waiting for that..... we still have not seen the agreement yet! I'll let you know!
OMG Flames that is hysterical! I have had one in every group so far.
The last one did someone else's topic, then said... ohh yea, that's my topic, *names her topic but says adult, not child*.... Nooooo read the topic assignments. Ohh and totally blew off the rubric. There is a part of me that so wanted to know if she got the same grade as the rest of us who did the right topics, and did extra to make the project correct to CHA.

How do people handle their individual work? They do small parts in a group project and are overworked. It doesn't make any sense. Oh well capstone equals karma, hehe
Puddles and everyone else beating their head against the CLC wall right now, it isn't fair what we all go through. Although I do not enjoy mediocre, I now have learned to roll with it. You cannot reach through the internet and bop them on the head so don't make yourself crazy. Like many have said, be the one to submit the project and make your opinion well known on the color forum. Let them hang themselves with their own words (like an instructor would ever dock them anyway). I just have come to the realization that this is how it works.
When frustrated come here and rant, we will all enjoy and reminisce about our own experiences with you!
Oh, and BTW..... I am in statistics right now and am excited that there is no CLC project!!!

I have learned that too. My 'analality' gets me frustrated at times though. I have learned to make sure everything is in the group forum posts that is for sure. This prof made it very clear she plans to look at the group forum in regards to participation etc... So no worries there.
Ohhhh and yes, I am the one turning it in.
Rob - going to start to call you Mr Happy for the next 5 weeks! LOL
Oh gosh. Thankfully she did not put a max on words!! I'm going to be far over!

Tok - I don't have a clue. I just keep thinking to myself, if she thinks she is overworked now she hasn't looked at the project for next week = she is not going to be happy!
I begin Community Health today. Can anyone tip me on instructors before I post anything and am stuck with a doozy? PM me please!
I'm re-entering the program after being gone for 5 months because of a death in the family. I checked with the advisor and the one instructor that had been recommended is not available- section is full. I am tempted to wait for her but her next section is full also and he doesn't see any after that. Ugh.
Or any recommendations for Leadership and Management? Maybe I'll switch over...
