Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Sounds exactly like what I went through in Intro to Research. When I said to stop the presses and wrote to the prof she said we could have extra time so I could fix everything that needed fixing. I told the group that and then got harassing txts and emails about how it was FINE and I just needed to turn it in. It had blatant plagiarism in it and I refused. One member turned in her work on the wrong topic and checked out until the night before after two of us completed the work. The prof read our forum and adjusted the grade accordingly. I HATE group projects.
I begin Community Health today. Can anyone tip me on instructors before I post anything and am stuck with a doozy? PM me please!I'm re-entering the program after being gone for 5 months because of a death in the family. I checked with the advisor and the one instructor that had been recommended is not available- section is full. I am tempted to wait for her but her next section is full also and he doesn't see any after that. Ugh.
Or any recommendations for Leadership and Management? Maybe I'll switch over...
Look ahead to week 5 and start planning early! Will save you stress in the end.
I like how it says to keep it at 5000 max and two of the papers run, on average 2000 words.
Yup. My ROL alone was 5k.
ok... maybe stupid question. Thinking I may have read more into the assignment.
Doing CLC for community health. Do we need one set of dx for the entire community or one set for the FHP portion and one set for the interview portion?
We are looking at doing the two sets.....but dawned on me this morning while having coffee - maybe we only need one set for the entire project. Waiting to hear back from my group partners but thought I would ask here too.
Thanks ahead of time!

Welcome to the Club!

Can only speak from experience, I never got the impression (from the oh-so-clear assignment description) that there was an expectation to do them for the interview portion. We didn't, we did one for each FHP. Not even sure if that was correct but it passed muster. And yikes that ppt is already going to be MegaSize, can't imagine jamming even more into it.

And for my group project a couple weeks ago we only produced one nursing Dx for the community. It stemmed from the interview and the biggest problem the community endures (poverty). Like above, it passed (very very well).
Maybe ask the instructor. Also ask if you need to interview 1 or 2 health providers (1 community health and 1 public health). The assignment description states 2 interviews, the rubric states one. Just another oh-so-clear assignment description.
Prism and Rob - I am ohhhh so clear now!
We got the ok to interview one provider. *that was done by problem child and we are still waiting on*
Ok... that gives a couple more ounces of O2 we can breath. LOL
THANKS!! Roo hugs for you both.

So you're sayng I could have saved myself 10 nursing dx? Don't answer that.
Ohhh yea... Problem child turned her provider acknowledgement form in - and her typed notes from the interview, "with the answers as they were stated to me". No clarifications, no sentences, nada Yes, no, absolutely....prevention programs>monthly drills - not what kind of drills, do they do monthly fire, earthquake, tornado, hurricane and terrorism???
I have lost my give a 'D' with her. I will turn in her work as she has presented it. She can have it out with the instructor who already knows she feels she was given "a crap load of work" compared to the rest of us.
I know what I have done, the rest of our group has done, and how we have worked. May not be the bestest PP ever made, but I think we are doing a decent job. Will put in what she submits. Only thing I would change is the detail in her summary if she turns in poo.
ok.... I have vented!
Puddles, that's my intention, thanks! I want to prep this weekend in fact. Just not looking forward to the CLC...

Couldn't resist!!
