Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

Nursing Students School Programs Nursing Q/A

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Second that nomination...... I am going to lay low now so that she does the work for me and I still get my 87%......

Um, if I did the work, that grade would be 100%, not 87... doh!

I know I can't double up until after my 4th class, which I will complete in a few weeks. Was thinking about doubling ethics and spirituality. Have any of you done that? Pros/cons off doubling.

I am wanting to get done as soon as I can, but still want to maintain a good GPA. I need to head back to the US this summer and wanted to take a few weeks off, so thought if I doubled one set of classes then I wouldn't be to far behind.

Thank you!

I did not have to do Ethics, so I have no clue on it. Spirituality had no CLC group project, so that was nice..otherwise it was ur typical class...2Dqs a week and a paper. 1 week u had 2 projects due..1 was a paper...and the other u had to critique another persons paper form the previous week (only worth 50 points) Very easy to do! I'm a slacker..took 6 months off,lol

I wasn't a doubler, but ethics has a two part clc and spirituality is paper heavy, no clc.

I doubled Ethics and Family. I also doubled the first week of Patho with the last week of Community Health. Having 2 CLCs in Ethics and Family made me a little crazy. Also the Ethics CLC is 2 parts and is worth over half the grade. If I were to do it over, I would double Statistics and Patho. I was always done with Stats by Thursday and there were no papers or CLC. Patho has one DQ per week and the first assignment for week 1 is super easy.

Our Patho Prof adds a 2nd DQ....counts as a response.....But Patho could easily be doubled

Any insight into Professors sure would be appreciated. I'm in my 2nd class and a little concerned from my Prof's bio that she is an over-achiever and that I won't meet her expectation for an "A". I don't actually know this, I'm just "worst-case-scenario-ing". I can't yet reply or send PMs, but would be glad for any expertise from you all :)

Hello all! So far Spirituality has been a great experience, which is mainly because my instructor is amazing!! Special shout out to PrismRN for the recommendation and mental break which comes from a great instructor. I feel like I'm learning a lot in this class as well, but it is paper heavy. I am still managing to work 60 hour work weeks and pulling A's in my classes, while chasing my 4 yr old and 2 year old & keeping my 4 month old well fed and engaged with the world. Just keep crossing your fingers for my wife and I as we both hammer out these BSN classes.

I'm looking to take Ethics next, any recommendations for any instructors to take, or just as important to avoid? Any advice, as always, would be greatly appreciated. Please PM me :). Thanks!

Heading to concepts in community health. I''m just hopping it gives me a bit of a break from the health assessment class. This one's been a bugger - mostly by the instructor who has been of little help. Nothing like asking a yes/no question and getting an answer like "the sky is blue"

One last assessment to turn in and I will do the happy dance! :)

I felt like my Assessment instructor was a robot. I also had her for Community Health. She provided no direction, but was a pretty easy grader.
