Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Entering Ethics this week then it's Spirituality. I have not heard fun things about Spirituality. UGH

People think it is a lighthearted class. I believe most have read the bible or have some semblance of spirituality so this class should be a breeze, right?

Wrong!!

It's a heavy paper class and the class delves into other religions, healing hospitals, the bible, job, Kubler-Ross, compassion fatigue and burn out. There is also a clc of sorts. Just an fyi on that. Don't let the term rough draft fool you. Make sure it's final draft. Some in my class were under the assumption rough meant they could throw it together at the last moment...Wrong!!

A usual there are professors that are brutal and some scattered. I think prism and I had one of each, lol.

Go in with your eyes open; be prepared to write and you will be fine :)

SOOO... any pointers on a good Spirituality professor......or more importantly, which ones to AVOID? :geek:

Sent you a pm..

This program is pretty damn intense. I have a game plan on how to approach it, and it's all coming together. I'm hoping that it'll all be over before I know it. My first class was with a real tough instructor, now I have a real easy instructor.... Keep the interesting discussions going.... it looks like I'm not looking forward to either stats, ethics or spirituality.

I really do think it depends on the instructor. I I learned a lot in the classes listed above. I had a great stats guy, and an ethics professor that taught me to push my writing skills. She was passionate in her ethical teachings and very active in the forum. Spirituality was good, but overshadowed with a professor that was a harsh grader.

This program is intense and you will learn a lot about yourself and nursing, but I bet you will do fine because you seem to take it seriously.

I have to say when I am looking for easy instructors I am looking for ones that are more lax with their DQ requirements. I still put in 100% effort on my weekly papers and assignments, probably way more than I need to. It's having to write another papers worth for each and DQ, and then being paranoid if my responses are substantial enough for an ultra picky instructor that never wants to be clear on what they actually want. That is over the top stress that I want to avoid. My instructor now is an easy grader on DQs, he said he wants to see an effort from us and grades on that, not on how thorough the content is.

Finished week 1 of stats with 100%...wonderful.

Now working on week 2...almost done should have everything submitted by tomorrow evening then a few breather days.

I honestly have to say that i waited too long to start this transition program because i was so afraid of stats.

To everyone: anything is possible if you push yourself!!!
