Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Wow threats really do work. Confused actually cares about the grade too and is going to finish it tonight. Even if it's not done right, it better than nothing at this point.

Our instructor didn't post for 3 days. I contacted GCU and they started a ticket. She finally responded this afternoon and said we need to do the whole thing ourselves. Really Nice since I work Sunday and the other person that's helping works all weekend. So this is what I'm in for huh? Guess I will start facebook stalking.

Did the other person drop?

WHAT? So if I understood this and your last post, you're trying to do the nursing theorist powerpoint, yes? And it's due Sunday, and out of your group of 6 - 2 are missing, 2 don't get it, and the other 2 are supposed to do the entire thing for the other 4 and just turn it in with your two names on it? This was the solution? Rather than her contacting the students directly (via individual forum) as mine have done in the past? I don't know what was said, but pretty speedy those MIA ppl showed up and had their parts ready to go. What about all those Announcement posts from instructors that have their cell phone numbers & email contact info and they alway say "I'm here to help you succeed!" ? I've had my share of ridiculous CLC members, but I've never had an apathetic instructor to the point that they just basically said, "oh well, do it yourself then". Those other 4 people better get an F on this assignment! :angthts:

I might be tempted to send out 4 texts that say... "Got a reply from the instructor, if you don't have your finished part into the forum by 8pm Saturday the project reverts to me & so-n-so only, your name will be removed from the title slide and you will get an F for the CLC. Thought you might want to know."

I have to say I'm a little (lot) shocked at this development. I'm so sorry this is happening to you, I wish there was something we could do :sorry:

Oh yeah baby..their names would be dropped sooo quickly. It would make me feel very good doing it too

Unbelievable. I really do think your story takes the prize for the worst CLC ever!!

They will get their Karma. They will be in a group that they will have to drag along and be the ones freaking out.

The capstone will also but them in the butt. There is no slacking I'm that class and there is nobody to offer help.

Keep us posted, will you?

Thanks it's nice that SOMEONE understands.

Here's the latest. Superconfused made an appearance. Apparently she thinks she is doing the assignment right. She thinks she posted slides when she did not, and she doesn't read any posts so now she is Superduperconfused. I posted more and more diplomatic messages. I know she isn't reading them because when I click on them I can still edit them if I want. So I then go back and see she has not read the majority of the replies that I have sent her all week. I send a new message as a new topic titled with her name and explain everything again and ask her to please go back and read all my previous messages. I post my cell number and tell her to text me if she has questions. I do everything short of doing the work for her. This is what she finally posts in a reply message.

Hey I just edited this part out. If someone from my class reads it it might not be good :) She posted what she wanted on her slides because she could't figure out how to do it. Just believe me, it was really really bad.

So you can see why I am irritated. She then asks me to put this info onto slides for her because she can't figure it out. Now I realize this isn't going to help our grade much, but I did it anyway. I labeled every slide as to who did them, and I am not doing anymore work! I sent the instructor a message stating I did this for her without editing, I posted the updated file in the forum, and I will submit it as is tomorrow. If some angel comes along and fixes it then amen. Now all I can do is wait til next week to see the grade.

And speaking of grades, how long do they usually take to post? I am dying to see the grade on my paper last week. I sure as heck hope it's an A cause this power point will be a C I bet.

Is it OK I posted that? I didn't use any names.

"Did the other person drop?"

I am guessing one of them did. Oh and I found her on FB and asked her to confirm if she dropped. The other one still posting in the DQ forum has not responded to the instructor regarding the project as of this morning. If she is not dropping, she is getting an incomplete for this project.

Go to the class roster and see if MIA2's name is still on the list. If they dropped the class, their name won't be there, and they no longer have access to the class in LC. This happened to me in one CLC, I couldn't find someone, asked the insructor if she dropped, she replied that she had JUST checked and confirmed that yes, the person had dropped. My issue with that was a) the instructor didn't know, and b) her CLC members weren't advised, which then caused last minute scrambling to reassign her bits & pieces to the rest of us before the deadline. Wouldn't it make sense that Student Services (or whomever) actively notify the instructors and the instructors then notify the students and avoid all this? That should be a common practice (rule), what the hay, man. Seems like a very passive practice rather than a proactive one, that would spare a lot of frustration for us sukka's sitting here staring at our phones waiting for a text reply that will never come :dzed: and getting madder by the minute :flmngmd:.

Oh, and in a perfect world where people actually give a hoot about their fellow man, a person who knows they're going to drop would be so kind as to put a little note in the CLC color forum letting the other people know. But um yeah no, that only happens on Prism's Perfect Planet that no one else ever visits

Well you would also think a person would have the common courtesy to text you back and say hey I dropped.

MIA1 and 2 are both still on the roster. My guess is if they are dropping they are waiting til tomorrow. But a message saying hey I am going to drop would be nice, for the group and the instructor.

What I can't wrap my mind around is that every single person in the class is an RN. How did they get through nursing school? This first class is super easy, but it's not going to stay that way. And how does enrollment let someone like Superduperconfused into an online BSN program anyway? She had toof gone through Loud Cloud with GCU faculty right? They couldn't tell she was totally lost? I kinda feel sorry for her because she is wasting a lot of money. Maybe they could have suggested some basic computer skills classes first right?

Anyway I am done for the night. Going to go veg out with the TV. I will update in a few days when I am off work. Thanks for the vent!

Wow MIA2 just sent posted a message calling us type As and stating she worked all week. I can not believe the nerve. Like you can just skate by all week and then expect to put your name on it? Seriously????? Type A? How about type being responsible. Like I don't have a job or kids or a million other things I am juggling? I am livid!

Arrggghhhhh I am going to bed

Well if confused doesn't know how to do PowerPoint she better learn quickly!

Ya gotta love FB, it is great for busting people.

Prism, I'm with you. A little courtesy goes along way. Dollars too doughnuts, these people are the ones to busy to help their fellow nurses when the ship is sinking. They would not make great co workers.

To bad you can't share the slides. I'd love too see them.

All I can say and keep saying is karma. It'll come around and get them.

Grades are supposed to be posted a week from Sunday. Some instructors take that long and others return mid week. It depends on them. You generally see a pattern in their behavior.

This debacle is like a mini soap opera. As GCU Turns....
