Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?
Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?
Tokmom, I'm in family center health promotion. It's not so much work or too much reading. I keep getting points knocked off of my assignments, DQs, and participation for not understanding the requirements.I think I just keep panicking and making things harder for myself. I'm worried that I might not get any better at this as the topics and assignments get more challenging.
But I think I have to take some of Flames advice and just figure out what is expected of me on the first day and just give the teacher what they want!!! Plus I'm in week three so this class is almost over.
Hi aimeedarling,
I thought I would jump in and make some suggestions. The way I make sure I answer the DQs is by separating it into different parts. Sometimes they have more than one question in the DQ along with a situational dialogue to guide you. Copy all your discussion questions to word documents and answer them in the word doc with your citations then copy and paste into the reply of the DQ in the classroom. Another thing they like is, if you make sure you give them citations on each of the original DQ answers. Then you have to make sure you keep a count of your responses to others - you have to have your DQ answer plus 3 responses to others on each DQ and on 3 different days, for example; after I answered both my DQ's today I also responded to another persons DQ 1 and DQ 2 so I'm done responding and posting for today and that means I should look to respond to 2 other posts tomorrow and then 2 on one more day this week. To answer your DQ's you can usually find the answers in the textbook, if you have the etext book you can search, words or phrases. When you copy something out of the etext book (to quote it) it automatically inserts in your word doc where you got it from and all you need is an intext citation.
I hope that helps you a little bit.:)

I'll jump in too, as long as you get those 2 official questions answered by Wed & Fri (DQ1, DQ2), that's half the battle. I tend to do those in advance (over the weekend) and save them to a Word doc, then if I'm still up after midnight Sunday night I'll go ahead and post them both right then. Then by Monday afternoon, undoubtedly someone has commented on my post(s), and then I will comment on their comment (two different ppl). That's my Monday, and I'm now down to just 2 more "reply" days for the rest of the week. Some weeks I'm ahead of the game and will comment twice on Tues and twice on Wed, and then I'm DONE for the whole week with the DQ business and I can just focus on the weekend's assignment (paper, ppt). There have been times on those M, T, W's that I never found anything interesting to comment on in DQ2, so all six of my "replies" (2 per day) ended up being on DQ1. I've never gotten marked down for not participating equally in both DQs.
Is there something specific your instructor is saying is not being done correctly? I got marked down on DQs in one class when I had an instructor that specified the word count must be EXACTLY between 25-50. Not one word over (and she counted). And, well, it's pretty obvious word count is an issue for me LOL
Some profs are sticklers for sources...well others don't seem to care!! Current prof in Research is very fair..she responds to people in the forum saying...not substantial, wont count....watch ur spelling, etc etc! So she is giving people a warning! Many people just give the --oh u are so right, what a great answer, blah blah blah! They are not bringing anything to the table, so should not get a mark for it!!
Yes, what exactly are you stumbling with? We would like to help!
DQ: Gotta ditto what the others say. Break it down what they want. I find the answers in either the textbook or the module reading on the website under assignments. Do you read those? If you get stuck, see what others are posting. It might give you a clue if you are struggling on what the DQ is asking.
As for answering, no problem here. I typically average 6+ per DQ. I like to read and respond to a lot of different people, though. Like Prism, I post both on Monday, and usually have my GCU quota by Wednesday, however, I still keep posting.
Flames: People who just say a few words short of a grunt, shouldn't get any points. Good for your instructor, lol. I'm glad she warns them.

Murse2013,
good to know there is someone starting around the same time. Who knows, I may take a break for a week after a class or two.
