Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

That was my post, I think, but maybe I didn't say it right - I LIKE this instructor simply because she IS putting the smackdown on some of the nonsense that plagues those DQs. Like you Flames, I get irritated at the fluff people post, trying to make it sound like they understand when they really are just regurgitating something they found on line. I spend a lot of time on my DQs as well as my replies, and when I'm done I actually feel like I know more than I did when I started (which, um, I'm purty sure is the whole point). This lady isn't allowing that, when someone tries to post a blah blah, she hooks onto their post with a ton of questions that forces them to actually learn what they tried to get away with and obviously dont' know. I appreciate that, I'm a little tired of people getting points for thoughtless replies. Oh, and I agree with you Flames, I don't think I've EVER posted something that didn't have a personal story attached! I'm sure there are people that cringe (and no longer even open mine), but so what - I'm relating real life to the subject, and the instructors seem to like that. So THERE all you robots! :cheeky:

Sounds like a instructor I want!!!!!

lol...In DQ #2 this week..my DQ was nearly 1000 words, I think I had laid out a great DQ..only 1 person responded, lol Which is fine, I enjoyed the DQ.

I just logged in to look at my upcoming classes. Next I have community health and then Stats! Holy Heck!! I got the instructor that everyone has suggested and I didn't have to beg, borrow, or steal to get him...... Is this Karma repaying me for the CLC project I just endured?

Sounds like many of my DQ posts. For this class though I always received many comments. Maybe because I post on Monday and I am the only one to respond to. Eh, their loss. I make them read it anyway!!

I usually do both DQs on Sunday for the following week.......I find the DQs fairly straight forward, and easy to research.....now if only I would not slack off, and start on my Papers right away, lol

The one you guys were talking about a few posts back

Where I made the comment to Prism or some other instructor? LOL. Guess it doesn't matter. I'm just curious.

Flames, she is really quite good! She doesn't put up with the copy and paste stuff.

I had her twice and during the first class she called me at home to clarify my question that I posted in the individual forum. She is a very nice lady. I later had her for Patho, which was cool.

Here's a tip (assumming you're speaking of whom I think you are speaking), call your advisor and make him/her change your class code to one that does not allow you to be removed from that class. I don't know which code it is, O191, O103, something or another. I've had the unfortunate experience twice now where I'm all set to go and a couple days before class begins I log into the portal schedule and see that they switched me to someone else's class! NO!!!!! Happened with this Patho too, I called him up and said, "I don't think so, you put me right back"; he did some fenagling and even had to move a student out (because it was full), but he got it done. That instr you want for Stats is so sought after, someone with some clout may swipe your spot - so find out what you need to do to make it permanent. And keep checking the schedule so you know there's no funny business at thelast minute!

Yeah I like her too, but she don't take no funny business man, some students are finding out the hard way (public smackdown ) that there ain't no BS'in in this class! :roflmao:

You may, yes, please, sugar on top, send me that name!!! Although my teacher in Ethics came down on people this week....yes she will be grading individually, and yes if she see's you are not carrying your load you will get the grade you have earned!! Can you believe it? She rocks, best teacher to date!!!!

This teacher (stats) likes for you to read your assignments on the first two days, post later rather than sooner. And NEVER post first, unless you are 100% sure that you have knocked it out of the park (and trust me I thought I had, and I did not! Did not lose points but ouch!).
