Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?
Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?
So I just graduated in May, passed the NCLEX in early June, and was hired in late June. I guess I was bored or something and told myself "nursing school was so much fun, I need more of that" and signed with GCU to start in little over a week. I need to learn to stop talking to myself.
I read this post around graduation and thought it was really fun and informative, but I haven't been around for over a month and now it is up to 147 pages. I guess I will have to spend time this weekend catching up with the topics.
I have read that there is a list of helpful hints and instructors that I should avoid floating around and was wondering if anyone wanted to share their information with me. If so, PM me sometime.
I will need to start monitoring this post, it's a gem!
Winterwhite, I go up and down like a rollercoaster with motivation vs quitting. The thing that helps me is the group of people I work with who either have their BSN or the ones that started working on theirs no matter what school they chose. When I look around and see that they work full time and a lot of them have families like me, I feel like there are no excuses and then it motivates me. I also like reading these threads because I feel like I am part of a geopolitical area. Seriously though, I don't want to be the only one without my BSN and all the new graduates that get hired, have come from a bachelors degree school. DONT QUIT or take TOO LONG of a break. just keep swimming.

Sorry, I bombed this one. TII came back as 35% LOLI did it all wrong, I did an abstract for each article and wrote out:
Background:
Objective:
Design and Setting:
Outcome Measures:
Results:
She told me I needed to use "narrative format". Also, I used the word Abstract above each one, apparently I wasn't supposed to write that (even though OWL says it needs to be there).
Not for nothing, and I'm sorry you're having troubles, but I find jsut a tiny bit of satisfaction (sorry!) in the fact that everyone seems to be going "HUH??" on exactly the same assignments and directives that I couldnt understand. Makes me feel like I'm not so crazy?!!!
And in the capstone, we had the option of doing it both ways, either narrative or more detailed such as you did. We were suppose to drop the word abstract. I got dinged a few points on that one.

Hi Rob4546,
Welcome aboard! There is this thread and another that has been started by flames. We sort of go between the two https://allnurses.com/nursing-online-distance/rn-bsn-grand-854234.html
You will like GCU. Since you recently graduated, the routine shouldn't be a shock to you like it was for some of us older nurses. :)
Let us know if we can help. When is your start date and do you have to take 12 core classes? What about the dreaded stats?

I have seen the other GCU popular post started by FLAMES, it is nearing 113 pages. I hope I will have less reading in my classes than I am going to have catching up with these posts!
Speaking of the required reading, how is it compared to nursing school. For the last couple years I continually read 6-8 chapters a week, every week of class. Not complaining, I will do what is necessary. I just am a little worried about handling school, life at home, and classes. It is nice having a life after nursing school, lots of honey-do lists that need to be completed.
My start date is Sept. 15 and yes I do have to complete the 12 core classes. Anyone have advice on what classes to double up on? I would like to finish before Christmas next year if I could which means I need to double up on at least one 5 week block.
I do think I will have to take stats but I took a similar class years ago (much too long ago) and didn't have trouble. I have had a lot of math in my life and I am really good at analyzing the relevance of questionnaires. I am really anal about understanding facts and figures.
I will ask for help when needed, but talking with people that understand what I am going through will be great! Thanks for the feedback.
