Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

Very good idea. Just as a side note, does anyone use dropbox so you can grab items off your phone? It changed the format even I was editing the first paper for the capstone on my phone. When I opened the same paper up on my laptop,Word was hyphenation all the words at the end of a line. I couldn't change it and my kids were clueless. I couldn't even copy and paste. My only recourse was to retype the paper. Thankfully I was only two pages in.

Not sure what I did, but the kids think it had to do with editing on a phone. So beware.

That is good to know!

Now that stats is OVER, why not take a half day and play hooky? Maybe you need a small respite?

Yeah #3 & #4 one really made me work hard. I didn't want to look like a failed in front of kids or peers. Sometimes fear and paranoia has its advantages!

That is almost exactly what I did! Went to the gym, worked in the weed pit (read yard), and played with my son. I might start school on Monday ;).

and autocorrect, on said phone, changed hyphenating to hyphenation, lol. But yes, beware.

I think we all need a sense of normalcy at times and feel as though we have another life other than school and work.

Week one research assignment question....where you gather all the articles, do a reference list with the abstracts included. Then it says an abstract is required. HOW are you to write an abstract on an article you have not written, mind blown.

Give me some tips....Go

Go back and summarize what you read.

We only had to copy and paste the abstract, I believe. Prism can help you when this one.

Sorry, I bombed this one. TII came back as 35% LOL

I did it all wrong, I did an abstract for each article and wrote out:

Background:

Objective:

Design and Setting:

Outcome Measures:

Results:

She told me I needed to use "narrative format". Also, I used the word Abstract above each one, apparently I wasn't supposed to write that (even though OWL says it needs to be there).

Not for nothing, and I'm sorry you're having troubles, but I find jsut a tiny bit of satisfaction (sorry!) in the fact that everyone seems to be going "HUH??" on exactly the same assignments and directives that I couldnt understand. Makes me feel like I'm not so crazy?!!!

Actually you going huh too helps so much!!!! Can things be made just a little clearer, please! I have read and re-read, and until I hear from instructor. I am going to do a bit of what you and Tokmom have said.

I'm going to get all the articles put into a PERRLA paper, cut copy and paste the articles authors' abstracts below each reference and then write a "narrative" abstract by kinda summarizing those articles picked. Like that doesn't sound like a bunch of blooey! Oh my!

Okay fellow 'lopes.....what do you do or how do you get over wanting to quit.

Winterwhite, I go up and down like a rollercoaster with motivation vs quitting. The thing that helps me is the group of people I work with who either have their BSN or the ones that started working on theirs no matter what school they chose. When I look around and see that they work full time and a lot of them have families like me, I feel like there are no excuses and then it motivates me. I also like reading these threads because I feel like I am part of a geopolitical area :roflmao:. Seriously though, I don't want to be the only one without my BSN and all the new graduates that get hired, have come from a bachelors degree school. DONT QUIT or take TOO LONG of a break. just keep swimming.

That kinda sounds like you might blow up Turnitin... If the GCU IT FB page starts sending out "Red Alerts!!" on Sunday evening we'll know it was you! LOL

Mine was 35% without the author's abstract! Do you have to run it through TII?

Sounds like they have learned, do not have to use TII! Can you image what it would do to whatever format it is they use to correct with....what with the author's abstracts in the reference page(s). :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:
