Graduated in 2011, but have not taken NCLEX

Published

So I graduated in 2011 and ran into some personal issues with my background it took me about 1.5 years to finally get the ok to take my NCLEX exam, Because I got busy with life I have not yet taken my NCLEX and I am in need of some serious review! Does anyone have any suggestions? I plan to take the NCLEX next month and need some advice. I feel like I need boot camp review of the entire nursing program! Any suggestion?

I'm in the same position as you. My dad became really sick so I was caring for him for a while. I am not in the financial situation to take one of those expensive review courses and I plan on taking the boards next month as well (hopefully early Feb.) I am just using Saunders and hoping to read about 40 pages a day and understand them well and do questions from the NCLEX 4000 CD and the Saunders CD. I also have the Lippincott book for questions which I am thinking of using.

My school offered Hurst for an NCLEX review. I thought it was really good for content. Everything is easy to understand. I'm also using Kaplan for strategy. It has seven practice tests and lots more questions for you to practice on. Good luck!

Personally, I think that Saunders is an excellent review. I used it to study for my exam 5 years ago. Do lots of questions. Good luck.

Thank You I will defiantly look into it!

I am in the exact same situation. Graduated May 2011. Let me know what worked for you and if you pass. I want to take mine in March depending if I can take leave (stationed in Italy :-/ )

The NCSBN offers a review course that is fairly reasonable in price. Look it up on their website.

Caring4you.net have some free resources available. All the best on your exam. Happy New Year to you..Much success in all your endeavors.

I know that kaplan is expensive but I am using that. It has a lot of questions. You could find the question trainers 1-7 online they help and they have rationales. You can also download the kaplan qbank app it has a few questions with rationales in them. I had the saunders book but I thought it was too overwhelming with information, but it helps when upu are doing the questions and you might need to look something up.

I know how you feel. I graduated in 2008.. Even tho i took the nclex i had really bad testing anxiety.. Took me 5 times.. Almost 6 years later i took it and got my license 2 weeks ago. The review i took was kaplan. The anywhere class i thought was very helpful on how to answer the questions.. I took that review in march of 2013.. Some things came up so i couldnt take the test right away after the review but even with me taking it so long after the review it still stuck with me. Goodluck with your test!
