So what was the point of your comment? I wanted to create a topic that was specific to NEVADA, as all of the other topics related to new grads weren't recent. Unfortunately, all of us nurses have to start SOMEWHERE! I wasn't fortunate enough to be born earlier to graduate nursing school 7 years ago when the job market was still good. Please keep your negativity to yourself. I come on this website for advice and to read about others' experiences, not to read comments from someone telling me to apply at Starbucks.

You need at least a 3.7 or higher if you want a guaranteed spot in the nursing program. 3.6 if you want to have a good chance. My advice would be to take the TEAS test twice. You wanna shoot for a higher TEAS score, but if you get a low score you'll get in with a very high GPA.

I recently graduated with a BSN, passed my NCLEX, and got licensed. I guess you can say that I am pretty discouraged by the looks of the job market. I've had NO LUCK AT ALL! Anybody have any tips or advice??? Know of any jobs in Las Vegas/Henderson area???

I have taken the TEAS for my nursing program. My advice is to get the study manual for the test and go through the entire thing. It really helps. Also, do the practice tests. I think there's 2 tests that come with the book. If you can afford it, buy extra and keep doing those.

The NCSBN offers a review course that is fairly reasonable in price. Look it up on their website.

As long as you send in your application to the BON of the state you're applying to, you're fine. I have a couple of classmates who took their NCLEX in different states. I will be taking my NCLEX in a state other than the one I applied to this week :)

I have been using PrepU for almost 6 months now. It was a requirement in my BSN program. I have a few classmates who have already taken and passed the nclex. According to one of them, she feels as though the question level of difficulty of prepU was equal to the actual nclex. I will be taking my nclex soon, and will let you know in detail how I feel about it. PrepU is the main program I have been using to study for my nclex.

Hello NurseStudent114, Will you be starting the program at NSC this week? I wish I saw your thread earlier. I do have a friend who was in the same situation as you. In my opinion, you have a good chance at getting into NSC's program. First semester at NSC is very tough (i'm happy that you will not be experiencing it), and there's almost always a couple students who either fail out of first semester or end up quitting. I know a few people who have been in your situation, and they were able to obtain a spot in NSC's program. I have not a doubt in my mind that you will be one of them.
