  1. Thank you! I'm ecstatic! To answer your question, I got my BSN from Nevada State College this May. Thats's great that you're working as a CNA while in school. Being on the floor, seeing how things run, and getting experience caring for pts will all be beneficial to you as a nurse. All my classmates who were CNAs got jobs immediately, either where they worked or where they did their senior preceptorship, and I'm sure you will too. Good luck in school! :)
  2. I'm a job-hunting new grad, and after a lot of rejections, I've found myself in the wonderful position of having 3 interviews scheduled for next week! (Yay!!!) The 3 units I'll be interviewing for are: St. Rose de Lima IMC, Summerlin IMC, and St. Rose Siena med-surg. In the unlikely scenario that I get offers for all 3, which should I accept??? I'm mainly interested in the IMC positions, but I'm having trouble deciding which position would be best (if I'm so lucky to be offered both). Here are some factors I'm considering, & I'd love input! Acuity: de Lima is the oldest & smallest of the 3 St. Rose hospitals & from what I can tell, they don't offer the breadth of treatments/procedures that many others do. Will my exposure be more limited & my skill set be narrower if I work there rather than at Summerlin? Unions: I know St. Rose is union, and I don't think Summerlin is. I love the idea of being union, but how much emphasis should I place on this? Are the working conditions vastly different in a union job? Pay: I hear St. Rose pays better than any of the other hospital systems, but I have no idea by how much (yet). Contracts: St. Rose requires new grads to sign a 2 year, $8,000 contract. If you quit or get fired before completing 2 years of employment, you have to repay the pro-rated portion of that $8k as "training expenses." You're eligible to transfer within the company after 6 months on the unit you're hired into. I've heard Summerlin does the same, but the contract is 2 years & about $2k, and as far as I know, there are no restrictions on transfers. Which position would you choose? Are there other important factors I should consider?
