Graduate in the Philippines to take NCLEX in California

World Registration

Published

HI, I'd like to ask if someone has the same sitch as me and what they did.

I am a graduate of Manila Doctors College last May 2011.

I'm back here in California. I am a permanent resident (green card holder). I have read on the CA.RR.GOV that I do not need to take the Philippine local boards or the cgfns and the toefl exam to take the NCLEX.

I have already accomplished my livescan and sent in my application and paid 150$.

Now they have sent me a letter requiring me with the following things:

1. Class schedule for the nursing program completed at MDC

2. Transcript for all education and training sent from MDC

3. Enrollment forms during my nursing years

4. Clinical rotation schedule and/or student logbook reflecting dates, instructor's signature and location of clinical training completed

5. Social security card

6. Passport and visa

I have no problem with numbers 2,5 and 6. But my the others I don't know how to get. :( I don't have a copy of my class schedules anymore, and so as my enrollment forms for 4 years. and most importantly, the clinical rotation schedule with dates and instructor's signature. :( HOW WERE YOU GUYS ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH THAT? I'm self reviewing for my exam and going to the library everyday, but right now i cant focus because I don't know how to accomplish these things. :(

I REALLY HOPE SOMEONE CAN GIVE ME AN ADVICE ON WHAT'S THE BEST THING TO DO.

hi starleviosa, i have a question regarding cgfns, what did you do with the Request for validation of license/registration/license form? thank you...

Just an FyI a compact license is only valid if you are a permanent resident in the state of licensure otherwise you have a single state license. If you live in CA and have an MD license (a compact state) your license is only a single state license. If you live in MD with an MD license then you have a compact license and then can work in any other compact state as long as your primary residence stays the same (I.e. you can work in VA with your MD license)

Hi Diel08,It's preferred to do a livescan fingerprinting but it's only done if you are physically in Nevada. There is an application form on their website but I think you can also go in person and get an application form fill it up and submit it to them. Hard times for student nurses in Ca.
Thanks kuya fern for the info! if you don't mind me asking, are you already eligible to take the nclex in Nevada? How long did you wait to become eligible? I also saw i their website that for some reason it would take them 4 months before they would be able to process the fingerprinting. Is this true? Yeah i know hard times for international graduates in CA

Hi Diel08,

I'm still currently meeting the requirements by the Nursing Board of Nevada. My TOEFL exam will be on June 23. My school in the PI has to send all of my transcripts to the Nevada Nursing Board. I will have to go to Nevada to have my fingerprint livescreening done. I really don't want to waste another 4 months just waiting for my fingerprints to get to them. How about you? How are you doing so far with the requirements?

I suggest that you don't waste time due to the competition of getting a job. it's hard to find a position that hires new grads but it's not impossible.

Hi kuya fern yeah I am already working on having my school in the PI send my TOR and validation of diploma to cgfns then cgfns will send it to Nevada Nursing Board. So we i am also currently meeting the requirement requirements just like you. Well for finerprinting i would do the fingerprinting in cali via electronic fingerprint because i called the bon in nevada and they said that they can process your eligibility in 1 week if you have filled out the application, passed the toefl and have your CES sent to them even if you fingerprinting is still on process. That is according to what the person iin bon nevada told me.

for you guys applying for nevada without local board, what did you do with your "request for validation of license/registration/diploma" form that one requirement of cgfns? thanks!!

Uhm you just download that form and fill out the top part then send it to your school so that they can validate your diploma?

I suggest calling them. Ask them what you need to do or need to submit. They're more than glad to help.
