Graduate in the Philippines to take NCLEX in California

HI, I'd like to ask if someone has the same sitch as me and what they did.

I am a graduate of Manila Doctors College last May 2011.

I'm back here in California. I am a permanent resident (green card holder). I have read on the CA.RR.GOV that I do not need to take the Philippine local boards or the cgfns and the toefl exam to take the NCLEX.

I have already accomplished my livescan and sent in my application and paid 150$.

Now they have sent me a letter requiring me with the following things:

1. Class schedule for the nursing program completed at MDC

2. Transcript for all education and training sent from MDC

3. Enrollment forms during my nursing years

4. Clinical rotation schedule and/or student logbook reflecting dates, instructor's signature and location of clinical training completed

5. Social security card

6. Passport and visa

I have no problem with numbers 2,5 and 6. But my the others I don't know how to get. :( I don't have a copy of my class schedules anymore, and so as my enrollment forms for 4 years. and most importantly, the clinical rotation schedule with dates and instructor's signature. :( HOW WERE YOU GUYS ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH THAT? I'm self reviewing for my exam and going to the library everyday, but right now i cant focus because I don't know how to accomplish these things. :(

I REALLY HOPE SOMEONE CAN GIVE ME AN ADVICE ON WHAT'S THE BEST THING TO DO.

update: still got denied with the concurrency issue for the cases and theory. decided to move on and apply to another state.

[color=#333333]steps i took to apply for brn nevada:

[color=#333333]1. ordered cgfns-ces online. $335. you can choose to have the $500 expedited one, you'll have results in 10 days. i just took the regular one.

[color=#333333]2. corresponded with my school so they can forward my transcript and breakdown of hours in my subjects needed by cgfns.

[color=#333333]3. livescan fingerprinting $65. and mailed my application downloaded from the nevada brn website. $100

[color=#333333]4. scheduled my english proficiency exam. i took the toefl $175. you can also take ielts. i chose toefl because i have to wait 2 months for the next available date in ielts, while with toefl i was able to take it in a week.

[color=#333333]5. afterwhich cgfns notified me that my credentials were already sent to nv brn, i contacted the board and asked about my application.

[color=#333333]6. they said im eligible and told me to pay $200 at pearsonvue.com/nclex whenever im ready. once you pay, you're required to take it within 3 months.

OOOh myyy.. I am so lucky to find your post here starleviosa.. I am so relieved after reading your post. If you dont mind me asking, did you graduate from the Philippines?... and do you have a local license? how long did it take in total to process the documents? how easy/hard was the TOEFL? thanks I really have lots of questions. pls reply and add me on fb too.. pls.. thanks.

Hi. :) Yes, I am Filipina.

Feel free to email me at [email protected]

It took me around 2 to 3 months to accomplish everything that I have listed above. It's quite fast.

I do not have a local license, I didn't bother taking the local board exam.

With regards to TOEFL, hmmm, I studied for 5 days. I borrowed the ETS book for TOEFL from the library and I practiced for the speaking section by recording and timing myself. I can't say its easy but I got a 112 out of 120. The score needed to pass is 86.

Feel free to email me if you have other questions. I have deactivated my FB account to focus on my nclex review.

starleviosa, pls reply to your thread.. i still have lots of questions regarding your nevada application. did you had your livescan done in nevada or can we do it in california? i just like to verify some info. thank you so much.

starleviosa.. I also have another question.. coz a friend of mine applied to the NY boards, with the sole purpose of endorsing the license, if ever, to Nevada, and so I was just wondering if you had thought of doing the NY boards too (coz they dont have the fingerprint or livescan requirement).. and info regarding their comparison will do, and also if you have any idea about new mexico boards... I am just trying to explore every option that i could possibly get..Here's the thing, last night, I have already decided on doing the ny boards, until i stumbled upon your post.. another friend of mine also told me that its ok to take the english exam, so I wont need to avoid it by taking the NY boards.. so ur post is really really of great great help... pls continue posting updates..

thank you so much for your fast reply.. and one more thing, on the steps that you posted, is it ok to do the cgfns ces first before doing the livescan? I just need an overview of when to do the livescan, coz going to Nevada is a bit out of way. thanks so much

Hi there Konoha, I'm sorry I'm not able to reply faster. Please feel free to email me, I'll be able to answer you better. As far as the fingerprinting is concerned you can order fingerprint cards for that. And yes I registered for the cgfns CDs first before I did that.

Hi Starleviosathanks for the updates about your app..just got my denial letter from bon telling me to study..i want to apply for other states too but I can't move to other states right now. It's really frustrating but on the brighter side, I am pretty excited about going to school again. I hope I can find a school here in bakersfield. Good luck to your NCLEX exams!

Hi guys, Im new here. I'm just glad I found this site. Can you enlighten me on this one? > Do I submit my application form for nclex and just wait for their reply requesting for my transcript, breakdown of educational program and other requirements they need from my school? Or Should my school and I submit at the same time in two different mails?...thanks so much...

Wow, you're from bakersfield? I am staying at my sister's in Bakersfield...hehe

Hi I am also a graduate in the Philippines and I just turned in my application to CA BON. Am afraid that I am going to be denied because I have a classmate who applied 6 months ago and got denied. I am also looking into applying in nevada. So I just want to ask you, how did you do the livescan fingerprinting? Did you do it in NEvada? Did you also got the fingerprinting form from Nevada BON or could you download the form online? Please reply asap. I am new to this forum and I would really want to be able to apply in Nevada since CA BON have concurrency issues.

Hi Diel08,

It's preferred to do a livescan fingerprinting but it's only done if you are physically in Nevada. There is an application form on their website but I think you can also go in person and get an application form fill it up and submit it to them. Hard times for student nurses in Ca.
