GPC Spring 2012

Published

Okay lets get it started all who applied to GPC 2012 come on in.

For those of you who got a rejection letter, please don't be discouraged. I got a rejection letter for the Fall of 2011 and then I got accepted for Spring of 2012. I know that it's discouraging to wait several more months but just take advantage of the extra time by finishing all your core classes and maybe start working towards your BSN. Just keep on going, maybe you'll get in Fall of 2012. Acceptance letters for Fall program are sent out by April 30th. At least it was for 2011. Hang in there... keep the faith! Remember.... nurses are in high demand and will be for a long time! :)

hi rawfoodnurse, i am also trying to get all my stuff out of the way. my letter came in on the 3rd, i didn't open it until the 6th, i've already sent in my confirmation form along with passport size photo and receipt. i've done my drug screen and background check, started my immunizations but i didn't think we had to get a physical, do we? i'm getting one tomorrow anyway just because i'm past due. i just went to a clinic to have my immunizations done but the hep b has to be done in three series of shots. i got my first one a couple of days ago, the next one is in another month and then i have to have one six months from now... which will be way after the nursing program starts. i'm assuming that they will require me to sign a waiver upon entering the program until i get my final hep b vaccine. i'm glad i decided to start early! do you know if there is a number that we can call for the nursing department to find out if they've received our confirmation form?

Hi Doodette yes there is a number but I dont think we can post numbers and names on here. If you look at your acceptance letter, its the clarkson number located on the left hand side of the paper.

Thanks "keepmovinglpn". I was wondering if that was the correct number to call. I was afraid to call because I kept hearing that the nursing department did not want any calls asking about acceptance into the program. But I guess once we're in we are allowed to call for information. Thanks.

Yeah, I don't think the "no calls about acceptance" applies to us anymore. I'm sure they wont have any problem with calls now:-)

Thanks Rockabillymom for those encouraging words. It was my first TEAS and I haven't repeated any classes, so I'm a little disappointed. Luckily, I have plan B and C and I'm going to go ahead and apply everywhere for next Fall. In the meantime, I'm going to continue on with other classes that I'll need for my Bachelors, so it's okay. :) This being said after a sad weekend...LOL

Thanks Keepmovinglpn! I am definitely going to call and see if I can go over things that I need to do to get accepted for next year... I will keep you all up to date! Thanks for everything, all of you have been so helpful and supportive.

Hey y'all just a heads up that minute clinics are running a deal of $39 physicals through the end of September. LOVE me some minute clinic!

Hello all! I joined this site just now. I found it when I was frantically searching the net for information. I applied to GPC for the Spring 2012 accelerated program. I have yet to hear anything from the nursing program other than meeting the minimum requirements. I scored 93% on the TEAS V in May. I have a 4.0 at GPC from the 4 science classes I've taken. I have a B.A. in Psychology. My GPA from that degree is 3.8. I felt good about getting in for spring, but now I am freaking out. Is anyone still waiting?

Hi MsSuzy if I were you I would call the nursing department because I do belive they have already sent out all the letters. Maybe yours got lost. Good luck:redpinkhe

MsSuzy I agree with keepmovinglpn. Regardless of acceptance, I believe all letters are out.

To all currently checking off items on your list, holy cow have you read the immunization requirements? A chicken pox titer even though you've had the chicken pox? A yearly PPD? I'm not even sure about the TWO MMRs. I know I had one in 1996 but I reckon I had a first one as a wee baby? How are y'all tracking down all of your immunization records? I still need the flu shot, chicken pox titer, PPD test, the series of Hep B shots and to figure out if I've had MMR #1 AND #2. *face palm*

But I DID just go pay the confirmation fee and get my passport photo done so I guess that's a few things to check off.

I know! It's alot! I lucky have got my immunization records in bits and pieces just bc of work. I did have to go and get the 2nd MMR done last month. The ppd I get done yearly bc it's required for my job. The hep b series I've had from a while back (lpn school) but I might need a buster, not sure yet.

Now the flu shot are we required to get that or is it optional??
