GPC Spring 2016 Graduates

Here is a place that we could start discussing the next part of our journey in nursing school.

Has anyone read the book they suggested in our acceptance letters? I bought it off amazon and I am excited to read it!!!

Does any one know if we have to change our major from pre-nursing to nursing on our own? Or will it be done by the nursing department?

They do it and it takes forever! Like 2 semesters.

First of all, no nursing program is perfect. Believe me, I have friends in other local nursing programs and GPC is great compaired to some others. No job is perfect either! I feel sorry for negative people who expect to have everything handed to them and cannot adapt to change. This shows lack of maturity, life experiences, and coping skills; not to mention the poor grammer and punctuation of your post. You have to take accountability for your own learning. After all, it's all about passing NCLEX in the end, right? Since the NCLEX increased in difficulty it only makes sense they increased the difficulty of the program for our own success. Please try not to pass your negativity to the others who are beginning the program.

FYI guys, I also found out they will not be offering the Kaiser insurance anymore. Not sure what, if any, they will be offering. Sorry:-(

This post was really unnecessary. This is a public forum and others will ask about your experiences-be it good, bad or indifferent. Just bc someone has a different opinion or experience than you doesn't make them negative.

And truth be told-Gpc has lost and changed a lot of their staff-which will cause inconsistencies and they DO have a history of not be structured. And yes it's up to the individual to study and prepare but they should at least have a structured foundation (GPC) to know what to study.

If they have been failing for 2 years in a row, how are they still in the program? Also, just because it isn't covered in class does not mean you shouldn't be learning it. It's simply not possible for teachers to cover every single thing, there's not enough time. Sounds like people need to take responsibility for their own learning.

I think we all need to just enter with a positive and ready to succeed attitude. We have all come this far and we can do this! Nothing worth having is easy!

I am so excited to meet my fellow classmates that I will be spending the next two years with!

I just ordered everything for the uniforms! :D so exciting! The only thing I'm missing are the hemostat with pocket protector and the student name badge. This may be silly, but is the name badge something they will give us or do we need to order an actual name badge? Also! Hemostat with pocket protector... I can find the hemostat but what do they mean by pocket protector?

I ordered my stuff too!!! I think our photo id we will get from the bookstore but the name tag we order from Meridy's...did you order the one they had with our items? I forgot to order it at first but I contacted customer service and they were very nice and added it so I wouldn't have to pay separate shipping! As for the pocket protector, the only thing I could think of that they meant were the white pouches that hold your stuff...I ordered one of those so hopefully that is what they were talking about...I didn't order any other pocket protector:) I'm ready for it to get here so I can try on my uniform!

Yeaaaa! I have everything (uniform wise) ordered too now! I too forgot to order my name tag and & patch for my lab coat. I called this am (after ordering yesterday) and they added it to the order for me!

I am going my my employee health today to get my medical form filled out.

Has anyone gotten their drug test completed? Can you only go to the location on Fulton Industrial? There is a location in Marietta.

I did the drug test Friday and it was completed Saturday. I was able to see locations near my home when I went to schedule my appointment.

I'm concerned about the sizing and material of the uniforms. Please let me know about the sizing of the uniforms. Are they running big or small? I can't wait to meet you all.

Just wanted to make sure everyone saw the email from the school with the updated book list and the information that a student is selling a never worn large uniform top, bottom, and lab coat:-)

Keep in mind. At boot camp you can usually buy some used uniforms. Cheap.
