U.S.A. Georgia

Here is a place that we could start discussing the next part of our journey in nursing school.

Has anyone read the book they suggested in our acceptance letters? I bought it off amazon and I am excited to read it!!!

I'm new and a little behind on this discussion. I've read some of the comments and wanted to add that a friend of mine is in her 2nd year. She said that as far as uniforms you can use any white scrub pants or shoes but the shirts have to be meridy's. She said they have them at the book store for cheap. She also said they give you a nursing packet and most of the items they required are in there. The only thing she said I needed to purchase was stethoscope, BP cuff, name badge, penlight. She said she got a cheap stethoscope/BP cuff combo at walgreens and it worked fine. She also said she didn't use the lab coat so don't waste your money.

This is great information. Thanks so much for sharing it with us :) I will wait on the extra supplies until orientation bc I would hate to buy something I didn't need. The costs are already mounting lol thanks again. Can't wait to meet everyone !

Did anyone purchase a lab coat? I tend to always be cold so I opted for one since I figured sweaters or cardigans weren't allowed.

You can wear a white long sleeve shirt under the uniform. To keep warm.

Ahhh perfect, thanks. I'll be cancelling the lab coat then I think.

Hey everyone! I started a private group on Facebook for all of us that are starting gpc nursing next month. Find me on Facebook Keri Kelly Hall & I will add you to group. The group is called GPC Nursing -- 2016 Graduates.

I figured it would be a great place to share ideas, talk about things and stay connected with our peers privately.

I look forward to getting to know each of you better and sharing this journey with each of you!

Yes, I bought a lab coat from all hearts. That is where I bought most of my stuff.

Thanks for all the information everyone.

hgnelson, as far as uniform sizing, I think it's true to size. I wear a medium (10 petite in most sizes) and the medium seems to be the size I need. I hope that helps. :)

Hi Everyone... Just wanted to share some great news. I'm a single mom and trying my best to seek whatever funding available so that I don't have to go back to work until at least my second semester. I heard on the radio about a program called Homesafe Georgia so I called and applied. It works... if you are currently unemployed and/or in my case receiving unemployment you may qualify for Mortgage payment assistance for up to 24 months. Here's the website if interested https://www.homesafegeorgia.com/. A true Blessing!!!!:)

I got my uniforms and nursing supplies today. I'm so excited.

?I got mine too!!! So excited!!!

Still waiting on my uniform. I am just hoping it fits. I got a size small for the top and bottoms.
