Here is a place that we could start discussing the next part of our journey in nursing school.
Has anyone read the book they suggested in our acceptance letters? I bought it off amazon and I am excited to read it!!!

bridge36, I agree with StephanieHawley. The drive from Macon would be lengthy for you. I don't know if that would be tiring. It definitely would cut into study time, unless you make usage of studying by listening to a recorder in the car. If you like working at Geico, maybe you can try to transfer to one closer. CNA is also another great idea. With your CNA license and acceptance into GPC's nursing program, I'm sure you will have a great chance to get a job. If you are thinking of moving to McDonough or Stockbridge, I live near McDonough in Hampton. It takes about 45 - 55 minutes to get to the Clarkston campus with traffic that is flowing. I hope this helps.
Best wishes on making those decisions. I know many of us have to make some decisions before classes start in the Fall.
Hey Bridge36 in my opinion I think that you should move closer and get a job in Atlanta as a CNA. You will save money because that two hour drive everyday from Macon will be a pricey Gas expense. I'm from New York and when I moved here this past August I actually stayed in Hampton. Now I've recently moved to Midtown so I can be even closer to campus. I am also trying to find a job at a hospital. I have to work because my bills still have to be paid as well. Is your Geico job full time during the day or at night? Will you be able to keep your same hours and attend the classes? I was just curious because this is one of my dilemmas as far as working while in the program.
My current job is pretty flexible because Geico is opened 24/7. I was planning on working a part-time late shift, maybe 6pm until 12am Monday-Friday. Right now, I'm working fulltime hours, my schedule is 1pm until 9pm. The part time schedule would work with the program but I know things would be pretty hectic working in Macon and going to school in Clarkston. I'm going to be actively looking for CNA jobs at the hospitals around Atlanta. I looked on Indeed yesterday. Grady Hospital and Northside Hospital had Patient Care Technician positions available. The schedule was 7pm to 7am.. due to the hours of the program, that probably would be the schedule I'd have to apply for.
