I can't believe it. I have read in the past I wouldn't hear until the end of March or April to know if I was accepted. To my very happy surprise, I got my letter in the mail today! Let the games begin.....anyone else here from GPC? Good luck to you all!
I was wondering about that myself. Home | Flu.gov says "The 2013-2014 flu vaccine will be available to the public in Fall 2013." So I am guessing that we can request from our doctors to get it as soon as it is available. I gave my form to my doctor's office last week and I am going in for the first Hep B vaccine shot and TB test on Thursday. I will ask them about it then and let you guys know.
TripleA,
I wanted to take the course, but with the summer schedule for my family (and a son at home), being overwhelming, I won't be taking it. Plus, I found out that I have "too many credit hours" to get my student loan (already have a Bachelor's) so I have to save the money for the classes I will get credit for in the fall. Let me know if you take it and what you think.
Thanks,
Sharon
I am in a similar situation with my financial aid. I had got an email saying that I was approaching maximum time frame and when I asked the school the lady told me as long as I am pre nursing I will not be eligible, I asked her what about if im starting the program next semester and she gave me a program change form to fill out. Now im getting nervous that I will not have any type of financial aid to help with the first semester :/

The nursing track will allow you to be eligible but if u wait until you start you won't get in time for the fall. The change isn't instant so I would take care of it ASAP if you need financial aid for fall.

Do not be nervous about hospitals not hiring ASN nurses. From what I have gathered only Emory healthcare has begun the process of being a "Magnet" Hospital system. In due time I am sure other hospitals will follow. There are so many doctors offices and outpatient surgery centers that are in desperate need of RNs. I currently work at the Johns Creek location and i have been told that they are applying for their Magnet accreditation in 2015 sometime and that all LPNs and ASNs will be grandfathered in. At the moment they are trying to implement a hiring freeze on ASN nurses but it is not working out so well and they have hired some here recently. Who knows what the future will hold but with a RN degree you will ALWAYS have a job.
