Time line for getting into Army Reserves as an ADN nurse

Fellow Humans:

Can anyone please tell me approximately how long it actually takes to get into the US Army Reserves? I am 1 year away from finishing my ADN program and I would like to begin the application process before I finish school.

Also, when I was younger, about 20 years ago, I got into some legal trouble. Consequently, I know that I will need a waiver, if the Army decides to let me in because of the trouble I got into. Nothing major, just small stuff, but it still resulted in criminal convictions.

Thanks,

Kevin

nayway, - did you enjoy bamc ? :) I should have focused on just saying or ensuring others did not confuse a registered nurse with a 68WM6 and merely that a registered nurse is a commissioned officer. Not trying to down play anyone but rather to point out that detail.

Being a 68WM6 is SO different in the Military than it is in civilian life. While in the Army a 68WM6 is a nurse. Yes, a LPN but still a Nurse and when you are deployed you do a whole helluvalot more than you would ever do in the civilian world. {as an aside, when I was a new graduate (Diploma program) a 68WM6 saved my butt!}

Hey, Listen SGT Good Luck in whatever you decide to do.

HOOAH!

Loved BAMC! Especially the cafeteria food! Much better than the MRE's they forced us to eat while we were in the field!

Hi Edie,

Talked to my recruiter about a week ago or maybe more, and she said that everything looked good and will go to Feb. board. I missed the January one because she was out of town. No big deal as long it gets submitted in Feb. I think she said it was the 10th of Feb. How long does it take before you find out you are accepted? Hope everything is well. Let me know what you are up to. Also, anyone out there know a good web site for military prints? I found one done by a woman who lost her son in Iraq and they were really nice but not what I was looking for.

God bless and best of luck to all in our journey!

Hey..I know this was addressed to Edie, but I will tell you that my packet went up on Wednesday, January 21st, and my recruiter was notified on the 22nd. She called me later that afternoon on the 22nd and I swore in on Saturday the 24th. Once the board selects you, things can move pretty fast from there. Good luck and keep us posted on the Feb boards!!!!

"Once the board selects you, things can move pretty fast from there"

Seems to be the only time they move fast however.... from there then they move slower than snails............. I am post 8 weeks commissioning and am still waiting on orders.......... (I know you all have heard this already.... but damn....as nurses we'd get crucified....... lined up and mercilessly enema-d to death......) jeepers crow and I hear that another 66H5M----er is still waiting on his orders and he commissioned months before me.... damn man I'd be on that phone, cuz certainly there's some lack of somethin' somethin' there.

You know I might not be 100% military.... but I am a responsible person that is accountable for her actions and I would be embarrassed if I took this long to get someones documentation done. It just ain't right! and I am not grammatically correct deliberately.

Hurry Up And Wait...

Enough Said :D
