Wow, I could use your advice regarding interviewing skills!
These positions require VERY different skills and job interests! I have worked psych and ER. They are high stress environments. I have been physically assaulted in both these areas.
Mother-baby would be a better fit for a nurse with teaching skills, usually much less stressful.
You owe no other explanation than," Thank you, but i have decided to take another position."
Best of luck on whatever you choose.

I think this is a decision you need to make. Each of those positions is very different, it depends what kind of nursing you want to get into.

Wow, congratulations on your successes!! A lot of RN's out there would like to have your "problem". As others have said, which position you choose is determined by your interests. AN can't make that decision for you.

Be truthful with yourself as to what your true interest are as far as chosing which position to accept. Next, make your phone calls to the other two, also being truthful. No, do not give them the name, unless they ask. I was in the same position and simple called the one I did not accept and said "Thank you so much for the opportunity, but unfortunately, I have decided to accept a position that better meets my needs at this time. It is full time and all you have to offer me is per-diem. I hope you understand I have to do what is right for me and my family."

ummm, LOL..can I ask where the heck do you live? 3 possibilities/hospital openings...
you have to think about which one you'd be happy w/ 8-12 hrs or more out of the day. I've got + 18 in pedies, so mother/baby sounds good. also a few in the ER, so that sounds good too. pysch, dunno. see what I mean?..YOU have to decide. goodluck!!!!

What areas of nursing do you like? Do you like high stress, low stress? What floor do want to end up being on? I would vote "NO" on the psych floor because most nurses do not like that unit.. but, you may be one of the few that do lol

Thanks, for your advice , i think mother-baby will be good for me as it is less stressful than the ER and Psych i doubt if i am interested in. However, I would like to work in ER/ICU in future as these are the areas that i like most and they seem challenging also. My only concern is that i am kind of new grad in context to hospital nursing as this will be my first job as a nurse in a hospital so do not want to take any risk and make mistakes. But, i am thinking of going to the ER interveiw just to see what type of questions they ask and how would be my performance. i am nervous though.

thanks, you are right i should think which one will make me feel happy at the end of the day. I like ER a lot but do not know if I should take that as my first hospital job with a 3 year old and 3 month old to take care at home. I do not know if i can handle that much pressure but i think mother/baby will be good as it is less stressful than ER. Psych i think i cannot do that so i will call them and apologize and explain my situation.
