Thank you spongebob, itsthe dude, jessyRN, and caliotter!
You are right itstheman, the actual $ sum isn't everything. I think that I will fit nicely with the job and the other nurses and supervisors that work there. And the benefits are definitely fantastic.
I think I am going to take it! Assuming that I pass the physical fitness test
Physical exam and drug test no problem, but I'm not sure how intense the fitness test will be. I think I'll do just fine though.
Thank you all again:p
Rocki718- I am actually not scheduled to start until the March 26th HR orientation. But they have not called me back for my "second interview" that I requested to get a better feel for the position, so I guess I should call HR and tell them they need to bump back my start date now...
Are you going to work in corrections too?! Congrats to you:up:
I got info for a corrections position one time. In it they described the physical fitness test and even gave examples of conditioning exercises to prepare for it. I seem to remember situps and pushups and something about lifting a heavy object and carrying it X number of feet to simulate getting a hurt person to safety. I would look for such a description on the website or ask.

I just wanted to say thank you for everyone for giving me the information I needed to help me at my interviews. I got a call this morning to say that I have been selected for a position and I received my conditional offer. (conditional that I pass my physical and drug test.)
I am still not 100% positive that I will accept the offer, because it will mean a pay decrease, as well as working evenings and weekends which I don't do now, but I do really want to work in corrections, so I think it will be worth it. I am so excited!
:lol2:Thank you thank you thank you:yeah:
Most likely I'll be around gathering info and sharing mine with you for awhile:)
