Kat57 I felt the exact same way. I had this feeling of being overwhelmed at first--like I can't do this, I'm way in over my head but the more I read the more excited I got.
Its so funny how so many of us have the same feelings/emotions and how we're all so excited (or anxious if you haven't got them yet) about getting our books!
I bought 4 of the 8 books I will need for the first 8 weeks of my ADN program and the cost was outrageous. No Christmas for me. I decided to start reading Fundamental of Nursing and I am now in the 10th. Chapter.
So far it is all basic, common sense information. I also decided to brush up on my math skills, and prepare for an anatomy HESI type test, so much for taking a break from school. I can remember a time, a long, long, long time ago when I was not such a bookworm!
Originally posted by kat57I bought my books too and am looking for book bag on wheels. I think hubby is putting one under the Christmas tree. After looking through my books, a feeling of OH MY GOD came over me then I snapped out of it. It is an exciting time and I can't believe it's finally here. Good luck !
If your hubby doesn't put your rolling book bag under the tree, get it from LL Bean. Their customer satisfaction guarantee covers 100% satisfaction at any time. Good stuff.
Our school preorders all of our books and we get them on our orientation day Jan 23 (first day of classes Jan 26). I wish we could get them early -- I would be studying the fundamentals of nursing already (I too am a dork). I have been using my Body Works 5.0 (it from 1995) software brushing up on my A&P. I just can't wait for classes to start.
Oh yeah, and I had a hard time putting away my scope when it came (Littmann Classic II SE). I even used it on the dogs! :roll

I got six of the 16 books needed for the LPN program yesterday. The bookstore is out of the other books until Tues. Anyway, I'm such a dork! I started scanning the Med/Surg book already and I can totally see why this is usually the most difficult clinical rotation!
I'm going to begin really reading through the nursing fundamentals book, because I think that's the one for Nur 101.
Sorry, just wanted to share my excitement. It makes it even more of a reality now. I've worked so hard to get to this point...now for the real work
