Good idea or Bad idea for studying for the NCLEX?

Published

I am just finishing up my first year of nursing school. I have been copying and pasting every one of my NCLEX quiz and exam questions from every class, with rationales, into file. I thought about converting these questions over to flash cards and using them to study for the NCLEX. I still have a year to go and will add significantly to the pile by the end.

Does this sound like a good plan or a waste of time? I already have over 2000 questions saved!

It's never too early! It's definitely NOT a waste of time. You will be more prepared when the time comes to take it for real. LOL I don't start my program until August and I have already been "exposing" myself to these questions using my NCLEX iPhone app. You should download it!!!

It's funny...I have two different apps on my phone and use them quite a bit too. As the time in nursing school goes on, I have noticed I'm getting a little better each time. Something must be sinking in!

Definitely start working on practice questions! The sooner, the better, and it'll make next year so much easer as well!

I have to agree with the others. I don't think it's too early for you to start...plus by having all of those questions already it'll give you more things to look over and it will definitely help you in the end. I actually just finished nursing school and will graduate may 10th. I'm super excited b/c it has been a long, hard road but well worth it. I am now starting to study for nclex and i'm waiting on my att to arrive so that I can schedule my test date. I just finished a nclex review class today and i'm going to be doing a lot of questions from saunders and the books that I received from the nclex review class. Hang in there and keep doing what you're doing. It's impossible to know what kind of questions that you'll get on nclex so all you can do is try to prepare yourself the best way you know how which is by answering a lot of questions. Good LucK!!

I never think its too early to start studying for the boards. i wish I had been more attentive to studying for the boards. I took my boards this morning and am flipping out. I really hope I passed!

Alright...reminded me of a skit we had to perform in our senior year in nursing school. Some people video taped theirs. My team decided to do a skit in front of the class. We had a doll and we were trying to demonstrate the different ways to take the heart rate of a newborn. So we took turns.

So when it was my turn to take the heart rate I counted by listening to the heart with a steth and bobbing my head up and blowing air out of my mouth per heart beat. I acted like I eventually hyperventilated and fainted from taking the heart rate like that (you had to be there). It was fun.
