Yes, ladies and gentlemen. I was checking my results on affinity and my last test result is positive for alcohol. The problem is, I didn't drink. The only thing I can think might have caused it was some lemon tahini dressing at a vegetarian restaurant I ate at the night before. I've had the same dressing in the past and never had a problem.
The killer in all this is that I am due to complete monitoring in four days. Yes.
Never had any positives during monitoring, nothing but a dilute specimen. I'm not drinking, not using, nothing. And bing.
*Sigh*
I haven't heard from my case manager yet. I'm trying to stay calm and think. Stick to my routine and not worry. I know I do have options, I just can't believe this. After everything I have done, all the scrupulous watching everything I do, eat, drink, and walking on eggshells...BUT we will just wait and see.
What the ****! What is wrong with these people? What's worse is they are dragging this out, based solely on a test that has been debunked by it's developer as questionably accurate in the face of no other concerns. (you already know this)
Do you have the resources for an attorney? I should think any one would love to get their claws into this.
Just out of curiosity, since you think that the culprit (if there really even is one. I don't trust anything having to do with these programs) might be the salad dressing, can you get the recipe from the restaurant. The weird thing is that even if there was any kind of alcohol in it, i should think you'd have to drink a quart of the stuff, for it to show.
Will they even accept the independent lab results? I'd be asking for the numbers and their cutoff points. In this instance I believe you have a right to know given what this rides on.
Oh and for my own edification, I looked up several recipes for lemon-tahini dressing...nothing but lemon, tahini, garlic, black pepper and olive oil.
I am planning on going to the restaurant where I had the lemon tahini dressing on my food to inquire whether there is anything alcoholic in the recipe. I'm also going to ask for a copy of the tests, with levels.
I am going to get the further testing. That is my right. I'm also not going down for something I didn't do.
I've been through this, it sucks. Make sure they did Etg/ets. If ets is negative it would indicate bacteria in the urine that can give false positive Etg.
Initially I had an Etg level 275.
Made to go to a 2nd rehab in 2006 in California.
The level has been raised to 500 and they add on ets.
The bottom line is this sucks. It's probably not what you ate. I tried to avoid almost everything and still had more positives.
I would focus on the point that this test is not foolproof.
They can add on ets from test. If negative it would prove just bacteria brewing etoh.
Oh no! I am so sorry Soror! This is crazy, and I can't believe this! I fully expected you to be cleared of any wrong doing.
Its obvious something is going on here for this to happen. They need to get to the bottom of it. Also, they should really think about things - why on earth would you drink after all this time, and getting ready to get released from the program?
I am so sorry this is happening. I am thinking of you and sending good vibes your way

Update: I am told that my Etg is "positive" and that they have to meet tomorrow to discuss my case. Needless to say, this is a first class nightmare. I didn't drink alcohol. If I had, the results would make sense. But I didn't. The worst thing about this is not knowing what happened or why.
I have located an independent lab that can do a hair test for Etg, and another that can do PEth. I so don't want to have to drag this out, but I'm not going to be punished for something I didn't do.
