Golden West College ADN Fall 2021

Updated:   Published

Hi all! I wanted to start a new thread for those of us who are planning to apply for GWC ADN Program for Fall 2021. I thought we could post any questions, help, or updates.

I will be applying with either 82 or 87 points depending on my TEAS score. Right now I'm hovering in the mid 80s for practice exams, but hoping I can still land in the 90s.

It looks like last semester was really competitive so it's making me nervous.

@pandabear1010 I got a response and they said it’s okay if you already submitted the application without highlighting it. This was the response I got from Diana Morales.

“We recommend students highlight their required and recommended courses on their unofficial transcripts. However, we understand some students were unable to highlight their PDFs. If you have already submitted your application, you do not need to submit another application with highlights as long as you have all of your supporting documentation uploaded. If your application is saved as a draft, you may go ahead and edit it.”

yay, okay! Thank you for emailing them ?

Just applied with 84 points! Will be biting my nails for the next couple months. Best of luck to everyone!!

Specializes in Pre nursing.

My application says I received 89 points but I think they also incorrectly calculated mine too. I should have 79 points according to the multi criteria. I’m hoping to get in as an alternate but I know that each cohort gets more competitive ??? Does anyone know usually how many alternates get accepted?

I sent an email about whether or not an EKG license counted, but they didn't give a definitive answer. All they said was to submit proof of license with the application for review. If anyone knows if it does count please let me know.

It doesnt count sadly.

hey guys! this may sound stupid but I’m just a little confused, am I allowed to retake the TEAS just to improve my score? I had already taken the TEAS but I didn’t do so well ); I didn’t get a failing grade but it just doesn’t give me the maximum amount of points. If I choose to retake it within a year, will GWC take my second score if it’s higher than my first one?

I think if you passed but want to improve your score, you have to wait at least one year to retake it. If you retake it within a year and wanted to apply, I’m not sure that they will take that second score. But if you didn’t get a passing score you can retest within a year.

Based on the wording on the Multi Criteria guidelines, it states that the first test score will be used. Retesting is allowed if you failed on your first attempt. If you fail, you can remediate and retest within a year, or wait 365 days to retest. If a newer version is offered, then you don’t need to wait 365 days.

you should email the department if you’re unsure. Maybe someone who have previously retested for a higher score can chime in and offer their experience.
