Golden West College ADN Fall 2021

Hi all! I wanted to start a new thread for those of us who are planning to apply for GWC ADN Program for Fall 2021. I thought we could post any questions, help, or updates. 

I will be applying with either 82 or 87 points depending on my TEAS score. Right now I'm hovering in the mid 80s for practice exams, but hoping I can still land in the 90s. 

It looks like last semester was really competitive so it's making me nervous. 

@Bella28 Mine was 79. I had 0 points on the box Work or Volunteer Experience even though I uploaded my CNA license ???

Don’t worry . Hopefully you will get in. I applied to miracosta college in Oceanside and they told me they received 500 applications. It’s crazy out here.  SMH. Let’s stay positive.  Good luck to you.

Email the nursing dept, you would get a better answer from them. We would only be guessing here.

Have you sent a message to the nursing department regarding this? I’m having the same issue. It’s not giving me points for my license yet the multi-criteria guideline says you receive points for having the license. It’s been like that for years so I’m confused and frustrated.

I haven’t gotten to that part of the application yet, but I have a letter from work with direct patient care... is there a check box that ask you which option you are using for this? I know the alternative is if you don’t have work experience you can use a License (5pts). They said you can combine, are you also adding license to work/volunteer experience? Or just the license?

There’s a check box that asks if you have worked in health services and if you check yes it shows a few boxes you have to fill out. It asks to describe the work experience, how many hours you worked, when you completed the hours, and to upload a letter with required information (I’m assuming a letter from work).

 

It also has the option to check what licenses and certifications you have and to upload the license/certificate but if you fill this out it doesn’t give you any points. I even filled out the option for volunteer experience (I don’t have any, I just wanted to see what would happen) and uploaded my license and it only gave me five points for the volunteer experience when it should give me ten points for those two things combined. I’m thinking of emailing them since it seems like something is wrong here.

 

I really hope they are still giving points if you just have a license and nothing has changed. I wanted to work after getting mine but I live in a high risk household and didn’t want to risk exposing my mom to covid ?

I suggest you do email them. It could just be a glitch or whoever wrote this online application forgot to input a code to count points. If that’s the case, you should let them Know so the they can correct it.

I completed my draft application with 88 points. Kinda bummed because I'm currently taking the Intro to Nursing class but I think because it's in progress it won't count. I think for the points for the patient experience part might be a glitch so I would email them and wait for a response before you submit it! You don't want to lose points ? best of luck to everyone applying! sending hugs and good vibes to you all ?

I just emailed the nursing department! ?  I know they might be getting lots of emails but hopefully I hear back from them soon regarding this issue.

I was looking at last year's page and it looks like they got their emails around the end of June!
