Going to fill out paperwork for new job-Do i dress like im going to an interview?

Published

Hey everyone! So this may seem a bit silly, but I am going to meet with HR in a few days to fill out paperwork and get the employment process going, but since I've never met the HR do I dress as though I am going to an interview again or just dress in my casual street clothes? This is my first RN job, so I don't want to show up looking unprofessional but I'm just not sure. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Have you had the interview yet? I would definitely dress as if you were going to one. You never know if they might actually conduct an interview or you might even meet the nurse manager who is interested in hiring you! Always dress to impress, and even when you get the job, still dress to impress. At my hospital, it is a policy to either come to work wearing business casual attire OR scrubs if you work in a clinical area, but never street clothes.

Should you dress for business? Absolutely.

I dressed in black pants, and a nice dressy sweater that looked nice. I also did hair, and make up professionally. I do not think there is a need to wear a suit. Just dress to impress.

I always tell people you only need to wear a suit if you want the job. ;)

Business casual is appropriate. Think dress pants or khakis, closed toed shoes, nice blouse/button up shirt... Definitely nothing low cut or revealing (duh!), simple jewelry, etc. You never know where you might run into your nurse manager or some hospital VIP!

Wow. Thanks so much you guys for the great advice!!So I dressed as if I was going to an interview, (which compared to the other people that were there, I felt as though they were under dressed, or maybe that I was over dressed :lol2:, but that's ok because I went in feeling more confident. Thanks again everyone!

Congrats:)

Thanks for the congrats!:D

I was recently hired for an RN position and went yesterday to fill out pre-employment paperwork and to get my pre-employment physical done. I wore nice dress slacks (gray) and a black shirt with black ballet flats (I would have worn my interview outfit but I didn't want to be the loser who wore the exact same outfit). I only saw the receptionist, the nurse, and then another person when I had to do a "lift test". I felt much more comfortable being dressed up because everyone else is dressed the same.
