GNs/NEW RN's-- How much $$ are you getting per hour?

Published

Just curious to you GNs and new RN's out there.. how much money per hour did your facility start you at, and what department do you work in? Any sign on bonuses?

Specializes in L&D, SICU.

24.09/hr with 10% for nights (and 10% for weekends). $9300 sign on bonus for 1 year of service--this was what got me!

i'm in philadelphia, working in the SICU

EmeraldNYL,

Do you mind if I ask what Trauma Center you are working at in Philly? There are a few level 1's that interest me and I am looking for more info as to which one I'd like to check out and apply to when the times comes. In addition, I'm curious to find out which one is doing that large tuition repayment for 3 years. With grad school on my horizons, that would come in handy with the debt.

Thanks!

Shahana

ljb,

Same question to you...what trauma center? If you don't mind telling.

Thanks,

Shahana

Shahana,

You have a PM.

Hi EmeraldNYL,

Just sent you a PM.

Shahana

hey emerald? Im graduating in may from CCP and then going on to nursing school at either holy family college or gwynedd mercy college. My ? is which hospital are you working for? I currently am a unit clerk at Pennsylvania hospital and I am almost certain that our nurses are paid $26 right out of school with a differential on nights of $3-4. I think your pay is pretty good for a GN, especially with a loan repayment. I was wondering because I thought maybe you could give me soem feedback on the hospital you are working for, I dont think Ill ever leave pennsy because my mom has been there so long and so I feel like im very welcomed there but I would love to get some per diem time somewhere else.

Specializes in ER, PACU.

I am in NYC and currently making $29 and change an hour, plus $6000 for night diff, than $1400 for my BSN. (not enough for this job) I work in the ER. ($65,450 yearly)

Got my first check with the night diff in it the other day, guess how much more I brought home extra...

$14!!!!!!

That amount puts you into the next tax bracket, and you dont even see it.

Philly nurses I want to come there!!! Can you send me info about great hospitals to work, the pay that they are starting? I want to move there soon!

come work at pennsy!!! just about everyone is related, its very family oriented and the pay is great too! best benefit being that since we are covered under the blanket of University of Penn, the children of full time employees get free tuition to Penn (Ivy league college) that is a big perk and it is not included at income tax time!!!!! because its a gift!!!!

I just started at Queen's Medical Center in Hawaii, starting pay at the moment is $21.06 however we get a raise after every 6 months X 4. Job rate in Hawaii is about $35 so I've heard. At my facility, evening differential is 1.00, night 2.00, and charge is 2.50. We have a new contract that goes in effect in January thus the salary may increase. Then you get raise after every 5 years depending on what level nurse you are.

I live in New York City, so we get paid a lot, but don't see too much of it after the high city, state, and federal taxes. I estimate they take about 45% of it. In any event, we get $59k base, $6k night differential, and $1k educational bonus for having a BS. We get reimbursed up to $10k a year for education related to the nursing field. I'm using my job to pay for the NP program I'm in.

hi, I am from md. I make 22.32 per hour. looking to travel to hawaii. any suggestions. email me. thanks. peace

In St. Paul, MN Level 1 Trauma Center-Ortho Floor

$22.29/hr

$1.50/hr diff for evenings

$4.00/hr diff for nights

$1.25/hr diff for weekends on top of shift diff
