GMU ABSN program 2017 applicants

Published

Hello, everyone!

I am a prospective student for the GMU ABSN program for 2017. I am working on completing my A&P I and II before applying in January. I have already have a BA in Psychology from GMU. My overall GPA was not great due to an undiagnosed chronic illness that left me with many incompletes that I couldn't get done. But my last 50 or so credits were all As and I was on the Dean's List every semester. I don't know if it will help me at all to be an alumna or not. I am an older student (35 yrs old) and I have three little girls. My older two are already in elementary school and my youngest will eligible for Pre-K by the time the program starts if I'm accepted. I'm a little intimidated by the 1 year, intensive program. Anyone else thinking about applying for the same program? Any advice from those who have already started or completed it? Thanks!

LOL I was doing a matrix to try and figure out if there was a certain day of the week the last couple of cohorts heard back....nope....all over the map. Question though--- has anyone visited the campus? My sister is a 2008 grad of GMU and she says the Prince William campus is new and nice and Fairfax is nice but older. I wish they had an admitted students day like some of the other schools. I haven't read or seen anything being offered like that--- am I wrong?

You didn't get an email about it? They are doing a nursing facility tour after transfer Tuesday campus tour/info session.

From what I see here on this site, it appears as last year they heard back on march 23 and in 2015 march 30, so hopefully we hear back soon

I'm checking my email about 100 times a day on my phone, it's killing my phone battery! I'm so nervous, I wish we would hear today so I could drop the one NOVA class I'm in for Shenandoah admissions, since the drop deadline is tomorrow.

Good luck to you all!

Haha! I know how you feel! I get a notification every time a I get a new email or if i'm on my computer- i get the little (1) next to inbox and get anxious and keep refreshing!

@LayerRN2b- I got an email about visiting the nursing school after the transfer student visit. The next one is April 4th. :) I can send you the information if you would like!

I feel like they are messing with me at this point haha.

-First an email saying they've made a decision about my transfer application, log in to see.

-Within 24 hours an email saying congrats and repeating all the info I saw when I logged in to see in the first place

-Within a week letter in my mailbox saying congrats on being accepted as a transfer student, more of the same info they already gave me.

-Email from office of admissions saying "happy birthday!"

-Yesterday letter in my mailbox from office of admissions, got me super excited. Open and see "Congratulations!" only to look closer and see it is the exact same letter (including same dated header from February) about being accepted as a transfer student.

Seriously stop sending me stuff other than what I'm dying to hear about haha. Making the anxious wait even worse haha.

I'm guessing we will be notified by email? (I'm hoping!) Anyone from a previous cohort able to confirm that?

Thanks!

I got that same letter yesterday! I was so excited. And then equally unexcited. :)

Yes, the two previous cohorts said they were notified via email.

i've passed the new health sci building at the fairfax campus and it's beautiful. it's on the edge of campus on University Drive about a block from Rt 123. The Fairfax campus is very green, lots of trees, very attractive.

I'm right there with you guys! I've been trying to tell myself to relax and what will be, will be. I think I am going to limit my email checking to once every 3-4 hours. I'm assuming we won't here anything until after Monday since it's the weekend now.

Still going stir crazy waiting! :) hoping to hear tomorrow or early next week! Anyone have any updates? :)
