Gloucester County College Nursing Fall 2011 Hopefuls?

Published

Hi everyone!

Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~

Skeletor and RB2000, did you make up color-coded drug cards? If so, what categories did you separate them into?

Yes I did Mom.

Cardio = red (blood)

Pulmonary = blue (color of the sky)

GI = green (bile:lol2:)

Neuro = yellow (made me think of neurons)

Endocrine = orange

Urinary/Renal/Reproductive = pink

Skeletor, I am at Kennedy. Nice and close for those early mornings! :yeah:

Nurse2b2013, doesn't seem very intricate, does it? It IS a required purchase after all!

If anyone is looking for me this weekend, I'll be the one with the Fundamentals book stuck to their face, lol.

LOL it isn't like the kits are cheap or remotely stylish either... I am not going to buy two so that I have a backup. haha :lol2: Oh yeah, about the book...that'll be me too so don't feel too bad...you're not alone! lol

Thanks, Skeletor. If I ever have 'free time' I'll start making some cards up. Lots and lots and lots of reading....

I had lecture today (Monday) and it was really good. I felt like I got a lot out of it. For those of you stressing about the quiz, as long as you read the material you will do fine. Nothing crazy. Good luck!

Skeletor...I like it! :) That is a very good color coding system.

Mom, I never read a single page in any nursing book from any assigned reading. You learn how to "test" so much better when you just practice NCLEX questions . . :twocents:

But Skeletor, where did you learn about the topic/system/skill that the NCLEX practice questions asked about. Did you learn the info from the questions? Or just what they've taught in class/lab? Have you (and RB2000) found that they only test on what they actually teach? I can't imagine that being the case.

For anyone thinking about attending Rowan for the RN to BSN program, there is an open house on Saturday, October 15. This is a link to the registration page. http://www.rowan.edu/colleges/cgce/common/info_undergrad.php

I'm going, even though I'm sure we'll be seeing info regarding the partnership with GCC in the future as well.

While I did not read assigned materials from the "required" textbooks, I did study "their" PowerPoint handouts. Studying Saunder's NCLEX-RN review book and the included CD-ROM of test questions is how I passed nursing school.

Well, how does everybody feel?

Glad it's over! I got an 87.5. How did everyone else do?

:yeah::yeah:

Like crap...I didn't do as well as I expected :bluecry1: I knew the material...as I sit here and stew about it, I know exactly which questions I got wrong...I know the material...I just choked...I never had test axiety in my life before yesterday...now I know what it is like...my brain just felt cluttered...I had so much information swirling around but I couldn't access it when I needed it. I don't know, I am sure they have some kind of seminar etc. on test anxiety on campus...I just usually ignore stuff like that because it never affected me.
